Flygon as a specific pokemon annoys me in terms of how Gamefreak treated it.

"Here is a pokemon that is slow, but has unique typing and levitate so despite exploding if it gets near a snowflake it could be good with a push in stats"

*one gen later*

GARCHOMP LULULUL.
Garchomp is honestly a bit more fragile than Flygon.

Then again, Flygon isn't called "the poor man's Garchomp" for nothing since it can't hit as hard.

A guy I know is playing some game called Pokemon Radical Red. Seems okay? Kinda? I dunno it also seems weird.

What can you guys tell me about Pokemon Radical Red?

That is a ROM Hack of Pokémon FireRed that rams up the difficulty while adding some Kiwi Farms-level or even 4chan-level humour, though not o the xtent of Pokémon Clover or Pokémon Sage.

There's a similar situation with Quagsire and Swampert. Both are water/ground dual types that can learn similar moves and have stats that favor physical attacks over special, with Swampert having been introduced in the generation after Quagsire's introduction.

The Pokemon channel on YT released the first episode of Pokemon Evolutions a few days ago. Just noticed it now, though. It's short, and I never watched Pokemon Generations, but apparently it's a lot like that. It feels like a lot of the budget went into the visuals, because the amount of dialogue, even for such a short episode, is really low. Still, it looks really nice, something I'd expect from a Pokemon movie, and it's pretty cool too.

Remember, they specifically chose what got Mega-Evolutions and the shitty, worthless piece of garbage called Manectric got one over plenty of Borderline Good and useful pokemon.
Honestly, I prefer it when a garbage Pokémon like Beedrill or Farfetch'd gets special treatment rather than something that’s already powerful like Garchomp or Mewtwo.

Origins had almost no dialogue too, I'm pretty sure it's a stylistic thing. They tend to stay away from adding any dialogue that wasn't in the games, especially for playable characters.

I feel like the series is better for not having too much dialogue. Evolutions is basically just a second season of Generations, and I like the concept of an "Adult Pokemon Anime". This first episode is literally about how Leon gets PTSD from the Eternatus fight.

Origins, Generations, Evolutions, and to a lesser extent Twilight Wings, feel like they are more for the older generation of Pokemon fans that grew up with the series. I also enjoy that it's not all Gen 1 pandering. A full length episode anime along the lines of Origins, but with a full 12 episode cour each season, that follows the story of the protagonist from each generation would be really cool.

Here's an honest question to as many regulars in this thread as possible interested enough to answer.

How would you feel about an "Adventures" adaptation?

I like Adventures, but man does it get weird. Like, real weird, even for Pokemon. An adaptation would be neat, but I don't think they'd be able to start with Red, Green & Blue. Either viewers that didn't grow up with Pokemon would probably be confused as to why there are only 1st gen Pokemon, or at least weirded out, or they'd have to adapt the series to include some of the later gens. I guess Let's Go only had 1st gen, but still, it seems weird to me.

If you are fine with unofficial adaptions, then Pokémon Adventures: Red Chapter is the ROM Hack you want. I even brought up this hack some pages ago. The maker is working on the sequel in RPG Maker.
(Remember to ge the Unofficial 15D patch, which makes the hack compatible with many more devices by trimming som empty space.)

It would be really great to get an Adventures adaptation, but I don't see it happening, unfortunately.

But it still has a better shot at happening than a Colosseum anime adaptation. *sigh*

It would work with a few minor changes in order to better update it with today. Like, how Pika made Brock's Onix fall to pieces with a Thunderbolt being one of the main issues addressed.

Some recommended alterations would be:
  1. Pika uses Iron Tail instead, which he learned on his own, denoting him as a special kind of Pikachu.
  2. Misty isn't filthy rich and doesn't have a gaggle of maids at her beck and call. Instead, she has gym staff that help her. She still gives Red her Gyarados, but only after they do some training to help raise his team's levels.
That's only from the top of my head. There are others, of course, but certain parts can be skipped.

There’s a neat BDSP switch lite coming out. I may just get it since I dont own a switch but really liked Pokemon Diamond.

Also for some autistic reason the UK exclusively has remakes of the original pre order stylus toppers and they dont ship overseas.

Good thing i dont pre order games anymore since bdsp is twice the cost of the original.

So, did they actually add an alphabet soup character to the franchise? Because someone is asking for one...And a nonbinary Pokemon, despite the fact that genderless Pokemon already exists.
Yeah, we do have an alphabet soup character.

But on a slightly more serious note, let's go over what the article is asking for.

Nonbinary.png

Sorry, non-binary Pokemon? As in, not male, and not female? ... Are you serious? Hey, remember that joke answer, unown? It's non-binary! It's literally genderless, how can you get any more non than the absence of? You're right article, that is a child's plea, because that child can't comprehend what they're asking about.

trainerr.png

There are actually not one, but two trainers that are ambiguously gendered, and have popular theories about them being trans. Lorelei and Will are debatable, even though it's a popular theory, but you can't not mention Bugsy.

HeartGold_SoulSilver_Bugsy.png

His in-game data "mistakenly" refers to him as a girl, and it's kind of his only personality trait that he looks like a girl, to the point of Gold in Adventures asking him out on a date. Now maybe that's not extremely blatant, but why would it be? Do they want a character to spot you on the road and go "Hey there, I'm a Pokemon trainer! By the way, I'm ftm transgender."? I would think the best way to introduce a transgender or non-binary character in Pokemon is to just... not mention it? I thought the point of being trans is that people don't know you're trans, that they automatically assume that you're the gender you identify as. Probably not the thread for this talk.

...Still! Non-binary Pokemon? They can literally be genderless! What more do you want?! A Tauros to cut his dick off? A Jynx to be able to be found as genderless and unbreedable?
