Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

I imagine that would be followed up with secret service spiriting the girl away for assault. Which would be a PR nightmare, accusing a child of terrorism on the 20th anniversary of 9/11, but also be a convenient way to get her isolated for some deeper sniffing.

Not sure how I'd expect it to end, this was the first thing that came to mind rather than a well reasoned prediction.
