The last time Cali had a recall vote, that Dem won with 24% or so. Losing that will be just a small jab at Newsom’s ego—fine enough. If it’s below 15%? Good signs for Virginia’s election.

a ton of other navies keep the world's shipping running as well, and you know it, even if the US provides the bulk of that protection. but then again, it must do so because it's the only way to keep your precious petrodollar, that was set up with OPEC, running. now granted, the US makes up the bulk of it, but if the order of that petrodollar collapsed overnight because your country implodes, then OPEC would reach out to different partners in their own desperation and the EU would likely be one of the bidders (or quite possibly also China, since their navy has been growing steadily as of late and in terms of smaller ships that can potentially cover more ground than your fuckoff MUH TONNAGE carrier task forces). Granted, it might not be able to focus on protecting all the shipping and it would be severely restricted for the first few decades, as the rest of the world learns not to rely on the US as much, but yes - the world would, in fact, go on in a diminished capacity while your country ate itself alive.

They really don't. Each other navy acts purely in its own region, leaving massive and vital areas of the naval shipping lanes completely open. Here's the big three:
The Panama Canal, as the closest to the US it makes sense we defend it.
The African Cape, less sensical, also massively important. South Africa has dick all for a navy and its purely U.S. forces that keep it safe.
The Fucking Suez. Yah, this one is primarily defended by the U.S. Oh sure, Europe protects the side that goes into the Mediterranean, but the section that goes into the Horn of Africa? Purely America. And without America defending it, it becomes unusable.
America goes down, say goodbye to all three of the major shipping lanes. Enjoy the Somali pirates taking out the Suez though.
