Terrible scenes on Tuesday afternoon on Alexanderplatz! A trans person set himself on fire there around 1:20 p.m., as the police confirmed to BZ.
Witnesses alerted the police. According to witnesses, the 40-year-old person doused himself with a flammable liquid in front of a branch of Galeria Kaufhof and then set himself on fire. You did not call anything, said witnesses.

Lol. Imagine trying to self-immolate in public protest and someone getting paid $10.00 an hour grumbles and walks outside with a fire extinguisher he's never used before, looks at the front and back casually to figure out how to point it before dousing you and then walking back inside after he confirms he put you out.

People who claim that burned flesh smells like cooked bacon are idiots. If you want to know what it really smells like, how about leaving the bacon on an ungreased pan and actually letting it burn? See how good it smells then.
It just smells like generic burning
meat, like beef to be exact. When I smelt it I didn't notice any resemblance to pork or bacon. The smell is not that extraordinary.

You haven't burned it really properly then. My experience with the smell of burnt meat comes from accidentally dropping something straight on the stove and also electrifying things. It's among the more disgusting smells you can experience.

This is being shared on Twitter, could it be real? I have not spent enough time on /gif/ to see many burning people, but this doesn't look survivable to me. But I could be totally wrong.
It's survivable. Saw a video from Africa of a guy getting beaten with rocks, stabbed and then set on fire by an angry mob. He was still alive at the end of the video after he managed to put the fire out and still talking to the people trying to stone him to death, even when his face and body was mostly made of blisters.

Fire tends to kill you by choking you to death. The fire itself generally doesn't do it. The burn scars can kill you via infection, but that's later on.

My personal experience with the smell of burning human flesh came from when twenty or so cysts were cauterised on my face.

I assume the doctors didn't burn your flesh to the point that it started to carbonize, though. At that point your face would start to undergo necrosis and they'd have to debride the skin.
