Secondly, Evergrande has announced it's default 13 years to the very same day Lehman Brothers did. Or, rather, the Chinese government announced it instead of Evergrande. They announced that most of Evergrande's remaining capital will be used to finish construction work on its newer properties because it is now hopelessly unable to pay off its debt obligations. The government is preparing for a massive debt restructuring, which should be closely observed since there are almost no examples in the PRC's history of a company as big as Evergrande not being bailed out. Investors are almost certainly going to be left to dry, Guangdong's provincial officials have already refused at least one request to bail out the company from its CEO.
