The obsession with sexuality and gender is just pure identity politics. First, they constantly have to mention transgenderism ("trans rights!" For example) and homosexuality and will shoehorn it into every facet of their social life. I think this is cause they lack purpose or are suffering from an identity crisis. It also reaffirms their status as a victim since by default all non-white, non-hetero or non-cis (God I hate that word) people are victims. I have a feeling some troons troon out not just due to porn addiction but also because it gives them brownie points in their circles.
Personally, I think it's funny how they want to be treated normally or equally but are obsessed with their own sexuality. If it's irrelevant to your character then why make a big deal about it? It's the same people who say that this stigma that people have against promiscuity and sex work is wrong and "who cares if people have sex, what's the big deal?" But will constantly berate people they disagree with for being "incels" even if the insult is completely out-of-left-field or untrue. Who gives a fuck if someone is a virgin? Like why should I care if someone is a dumb whore or wizard? Leftism has been infiltrated and only right-wingers and some tankies can see it. I remember when NoFap was referred to as "fascist propaganda" on r/Chapo awhile back. Anything that exercises self-discipline or growth seems to be shunned by radlibs and fake commies.

I think it's more a thing with politcs-obsessed people in the internet than leftists in general, and it just so happens that many, probably even most, of these types of people are leftists. I make this distinction just so we don't gloss over the fact that the right also hosts these sorts of people. Those ultra traditionalists/reactionaries/fascists who can barely manage to have a nice relationship with their families.

But besides that, people using politics and/or the state as a way to avenge their, at least in their eyes, shitty family, isn't a new thing. It's not a coincidence we imagine the stereotypical feminist to be a girl with tremendous daddy issues.
