It's pretty common for mediocre and hobbiest artists to have zero clue how to draw shoes (or feet in general). It's probably nothing.

Personally, I'm a fan of the attempt at remedying the needlessly revealing outfit on the right, like afaik the original doesn't fit her character. She not a lustful succubus type, so why be so revealing. But maybe I wouldn't know. I only watched 2 episodes. but that's just me. Not sure why they gave her darker skin or random leg accessories... Seems needless.

Ah yes nothing says UwU woke redesign like making the character a few shades darker and ambigousing the fuck out of their ethnicity. So Ryuko went from fair skinned, thin, Japanese girl to darker skinned, not as thin, Pilipino?

Honest review time; this is a fairly lazy redesign and quirky bandaids and chunky leg warmers don't add much of anything to the left, while the right has lost a lot of visual appeal. I'm not just talking about the fanservice, I mean it's lost the parallel lines which made Ryko look taller, the eye on the shoulder isn't as prominent, the sneakers staying white detract from the overall color scheme and are jarring, and her neck is too damn short so her upper body just looks crowded.

Now I'm not saying the redesign is entirely bad. I actually like the stockings, they're a little more fun to look at. The skirt looks more like tassets you'd find on old armor so that's cool. I like the teeth on the midriff, feels like the suit is just that much more alive ( Think Eddie and Zato-1 in Guilty Gear) and changing up the parallel lines to look more jagged give it a more feral appearance. But like I said it's not that it is bad, it's just a little lazy. Making the horn bits in the hair more prominent is a nice touch and I actually prefer it.

So I don't hate it. It just doesn't have the POP that the original does.

I think Kill la Kill is supposed to be a parody, therefore needlessly revealing outfits and other wierd shit. Makes sence for anime nerds, who watched hundreds of maho shojo animes with needlessly revealing transformation sequences. It also has a lot of elements, that parody common elements of maho shojo, but I am not an expert on these things.
