I guess a bit of an update: Penny posted a video on the Tranch instagram talking about the mutual aid thing they're doing.
Most of what he goes into is stuff we already know (Amazon and GFM), but there are a few interesting details in there.
(Allow some paraphrasing here)
1:15: So what we do is, when we hit 5000 dollars, we're a 501c so we don't pay taxes on that, what we do is that we put the money in an envelope, we put it as cash, and we deliver it to them.
1:54: The first lady that we're helping out is in Denver, her mom's from Pine Ridge, and she's having trouble with rent, so we're helping out, hand her an envelope full of cash.
2:25 He also says that they'll be doing monthly dropoffs at the Rez of the goods they collect.
The one lead we seem to have at the moment is this mysterious half-Indian lady that lives in Denver whose mom is from PR. I remember Penny mentioning on Twitter that a family friend of his was a Lakota woman who told him stories about life in Pine Ridge, so if there's any bridge to the Rez, it'd be through her I imagine (if she even exists).
Maybe KF has rotten my brain too much, but for some reason I feel that this mysterious lady we know nothing about (lives in Denver, friend of the Tranch, will get an absurd amount of money from them) might be a troon, maybe I'm completely wrong here.
Second thing is, the Tranch itself doesn't need to pay taxes given that they're a charity, but what about the people they're handing the money to? I can understand putting the money in envelopes for the people in Pine Ridge, bank services can be lacking in deep rural areas, but what about the friend in Denver of all places? Tax avoidance question mark?
