You should shave off the cheeks and the mustache and only leave hair on the neck. It's a very good look

I do. Simply Great beard oil, datenight scented. I comb a little in every morning before work.
Beyond that it really just comes down to personal preference. I keep mine a lot shorter. I have a nice set of hair clippers that I use to cut my hair and once a week I use them with a 1/2" on the cheeks and a 3/8" on the chin and mustache to trim the scruff off. Then I clean up with a beard trimmer and a pair of scissors for stray hairs.

Twice a week in the shower I use a non-silicone conditioner. It all keeps my beard in pretty great shape.

Is there a specific trimming kit you might be able to recommend?

Not really, I got mine for like 30 bucks at Walmart lol. My hair clippers are really nice though, I got them off my old barber after he retired.

I would recommend a wooden comb though, those cheap plastic ones will damage the hairs. I use a brush before I comb, one like this.

They're like 5 or 10 bucks at Walmart and it's always worked out well for me.

I always keep a thick, manly full beard, and have been keeping one since I was 17 years old.
I have experimented with different styles over the years such as solo mustache, solo muttonchops and stubble, but I keep fully bearded nowadays.
I use beard oil whenever I can and shampoo/condition it every time I shower (which is daily).
