Regardless of intent, Phil was definitely spoiled. Just the other day, he was talking about how he had multiple He-Man playsets that were each in the $80 range; in the 80s, that's an absurd amount of money to be spending on children's toys, not to mention that this was something he also something he admitted to barely playing with. Every time old toys come up, he usually owned it or owned something exactly like it. The typical Phil dishonesty quotient should be weighed in, of course, but I tend to believe him based on the way he tells the stories.

Assuming your premise, it feels like the next likely thing would be a socialization problem. He learned, somehow, that the only way to make friends was to be the child equivelant of a high roller and never unlearned that. He doesn't have hobbies or interests; he simply acquires things to present the appearance of being a "major player" in whatever community he wants to be a part of. His lying habit is an extension of that, because he doesn't actually know anything about the interests he's paraticizing, and sooner or later, constant deception will become second nature.

From what I was able to remember, Leanna was going through a troubled homelife where she was staying in Allentown, PA. Leanna was looking for a way out of her shitty homelife and with zero job prospects or a way out, here came Phil blowing up her YouTube DM's, and basically selling her a dream. Again, being young and dumb, she saw Phil has her golden ticket out of Allentown. Even her family saw it as creepy, that a almost 30 year old man would show interest in someone that JUST hit 18. Hell, anyone would.

I think Phil wanted to show his mom and dad, because we all know Phil holds a grudge like his life depends on it, that he's a real mature adult. Sure, Phil. Because getting a condo that was 5 minutes away from your mature adult office job, while heading to your parents home to get din-din every night, along with your laundry done every week sure is being a mature adult.

I've always held the belief that he is borderline autistic - where he has the social anxiety and sticks to that retarded schedule like his life depends on it, but he was never tested for it, and Dave and Linda did their best to what they had to work with. Again, it was the 80's. They knew his bitch-made ass was going to make fun of, again....the 80's and 90's, where you would get CLOWNED for coming to school for anything. It made the Modern Warfare 2 lobbies on Xbox 360 look like just another Tuesday, and if you didn't have a comeback or have hands, you were screwed.

I can see Phil seeing classmates getting their jacket, shoes, and hat taken because someone that liked to fight wanted them...and, him going "I don't want that to be my ass." told Dave and Linda about it and they decided to isolate his ass, because they knew Phil didn't have hands. Instead of, ya know, letting Phil get his face kicked in - because an ass-whooping doesn't fall out of the sky - he was sheltered and felt comfortable talking hella shit with zero consequences. An ass-whooping can humble the biggest of dickheads, just saying.

Edit: this is objectively funnier than his parents paying for his education. Fairfield University booksmart style people must be really proud of the science experiment kit that resulted in Phil Burnell.

There is a way: he got into drinking and gets ass blasted drunk every single night without fail and has done so for the past 20+ years.
Would explain quite a few things.

When it comes to the Asmongold "interview" the only way Asmon can turn this turd into a veritable hardcore gaming season style redemption run is to go totally off script and not do it at all like a normal interview.

PPP basically did this but went about it by taking months to semi-manipulate Phil. His actual original goal was to get Phil to become a real streamer and a part of the show but Phil bitched out so much that PPP went nuclear on him. Thus the comedy of the snakening was revealed.

The Side Scrollers played along a little with him at first but then entertained the extreme length and started pushing a bit harder - so it took time. Even then they genuinely suggested things like he should go to therapy to try and help him.

Asmon just needs to press Phil hard on shit and not take any bullshit from him and ask him the most personal, direct questions that get up Phil's dumb ass - the type of stuff gamer detractors say when he leaves voice chat open that make him immediately quit the game. He can start off slow but he really needs to be direct and be a fucking dick to Phil because Phil deserves it.

I hope he does press Phil really hard about his personal life, finances, bankruptcy and all of it to the point that Phil has to wagequit the stream.

What interests me about this 'interview' in particular is Asmongold's reach. He's far more mainstream than SideScrollers or KC. Surely Phil's gotta sniff money, if he bitches out it'll be in front of more people than ever before. I think there's some potential for a good freakout or insane coping, though most likely it'll be him trying to asskiss Asmongold while getting clowned on and fake-laughing through it.

Remember, he had therapy and psychological help for limerence and other things. Who was the target of this unrequited love and infatuation? I've suspected that it was his adopted cousin. It could also be uh...the Vietnamese immigrant girl, Michelle Le who was previously going to be the valedictorian but "had some kind of mental breakdown which" caused Phil to then be it. He finds this funny, and has a pretty big hardon against Asians in his incel-tier rants, and remember Pandalee's reveal "Pandalee is not asian". It could be more mundane, or more wild like he fell in love with Linda. Who knows. Retard brains are retarded. It would be funny if that is why his sister-cousin wants nothing to do with him.

I mean he was on that path when he was still living with mommy and daddy after nearly failing out of college the first semester (CompSci filtered him and he had to go on to more Nintendo-like pastures). Then after college he was yet again back living with them until he simped for a female coworker so hard he bought a garbage condo to try to suck up and it failed. I would say no one reflecting reality to him repeatedly as a child is a huge factor in why we're here. He makes up scenarios and now they have to play out to those plans or else he has a tantrum. When no one's there to wipe his ass and appease his ego he crashes out and remembers it for all of time. Whether it's on a game level and a bullet he aimed straight down into the floor having the balls to miss the enemies grey matter, or Leanna telling him that his gross, unwashed, lard encased groin would stay a man only zone forever causing him to immediately wife up a retarded hobosexual who feels comfortable visibly not wanting to touch or be near him on a public livestream lol. King Snake, Craig and Adam, denying the midfirst bank foreclosing on the Connecticut condo and denying his bankruptcy only to come out and admit it. Then ban people on the stream for asking why he banned people for saying it prior and claiming it was a lie as the excuse to ban them. Denying WWE Champions for 2017-2023 or whatever and banning tens of thousands over that. Hundreds of crashouts about how fake it was. The brief time he tried to claim the "incident" was an attempt at going viral lol.
