I am getting a lot of positive feedback for this thread being up. A lot of people can’t seem to find a discussion for this topic that is grounded in reasonable emotions, and that is frustrating for them. They have the entire World Wide Web at their fingertips, but can’t find a forum that seems grounded in reality.

That’s why I’m very happy to help make this an informative, funny and thoughtful topic. Please let me know if I can improve the OP by the way.

Update: Here is an introduction of all this from the perspective of one of the students who was there.
Hello Local 12 News. At the present time, I have an urgent request that truly is of the utmost importance, a request that supersedes my entire being and applies to the integrity of all Americans. You have probably seen or heard of the video of students wearing MAGA gear supposedly "harassing," "bothering," and "jeering at" a Native American veteran. This is not true and taken entirely out of context. I am a student at Covington Catholic and was present at the occurrence. Here is what truly happened:

Every year, my school attends the March for Life in DC and afterward tours the city. Our chaperones and teachers told us to be at the Lincoln Memorial at 5:30 to be ready for the buses to pick us up. 5:30 came around and we were all gathered at the Memorial. As we are an all-male school that loves to get hyped up (hence our cheer section's name, "Colonel Crazies"), and as we have done for years prior, we decided to do some cheers to pass time. In the midst of our cheers, we were approached by a group of adults led by Nathan Phillips, with Phillips beating his drum. They forced their way into the center of our group.

We initially thought this was a cultural display since he was beating along to our cheers, and so we clapped to the beat. He came to stand in front of one of my classmates who stood where he was, smiling and enjoying the experience. However, after multiple minutes of Mr. Phillips beating his drum directly in the face of my friend (mere centimeters from his nose), we became confused and started wondering what was happening. It was not until later that we discovered they would incriminate us as a publicity stunt. As a result, my friend faces expulsion for simply standing still and our entire school is being disparaged for a crime we did not commit. To reiterate, we did not partake in any physical or verbal abuse, did not chant "build the wall" or mock or anything of the like, and did not seek to incite violence.

After that initial occurrence, we were then verbally assaulted by four or five African-American men who called us "faggots" and berated one of our African-American students for being friends with us. The truth needs to come out. I pray that you read this and can speak for us who are silenced by the media. Here is video evidence of Nathan Phillips approaching the group of Covington Catholic students, showing that we did not approach him but he approached us(https://twitter.com/i/status/1086681831804674048); the later half of the occurrence showing Phillips' group inciting debates as well as harassment of the students by another group; and a second video of the harassment of students (https://twitter.com/i/status/1086796421226029056).

As you can see by these videos, the true story is quite different from that portrayed by the media. A great injustice has been done, and it is our duty to see that the truth prevails. Additionally, Mr. Phillips has a history of claiming racial harassment. I am by no means disparaging his credibility, but this should be taken note of.

"WASHINGTON, DC (WKYT) - A video that has been widely shared on social media has sparked outrage against a Northern Kentucky High School.

According to FOX 19, the video shows a student standing and smirking directly in front of a Native American as he drums and sings, while a larger group of students, some wearing clothing that appears to bear the insignia of Covington Catholic High School, surrounds the man, jeering and chanting.

Social media posts from people at the scene say the Native American man was participating in the Indigenous Peoples March.

Posts on Covington Catholic’s Instagram page shows students from the school were in Washington, DC at the time, participating in the March for Life. The school’s social media platforms have since been restricted.

Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes voiced her disapproval of the behavior in a tweet reading, “As we prepare to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., his work to ensure equality for all through nonviolent civil disobedience sadly still applies today. Kentucky, we are better than this.”

She has also released a statement calling on Covington Catholic High School to denounce the incident.

Covington Catholic has not issued a statement at this time."

Update:
They have barely lost any steam. Still trying to doxxxxx a bunch of high school kids, Lionizing Mr. Phillips, and another reference to deep-south Dixie days.

Not pictured, but if you guys use social media to bring up any counter-narrative about Phillips’ actions toward the kids, or the overreaction toward the kids in general, I’d be very careful. They are out for blood.

The principal, the teachers, the main few spotlighted boys smirking, they have all been named and targeted. The situation is approaching nuclear.

this is really interesting because I just realized something. the media is now in a lose/lose scenario.

if they fight against the libel and defamation suits, refuse to admit fault, and win, defamation and libel for all intents and purposes become legal.

if they lose, then they lose a lot of their political power as they can no longer just make shit up without risking millions in judgements to people they hate.

true there is a chance they could get all the lawsuits dismissed/settled.

i wouldn't bet money on it though.

My guess is the really powerful ones like the MSM outlets, Congressmen, and Senators will use their pull to get the lawsuits tossed, some of the others will probably settle or have one of the groups they work under support them, it's a wildcard on the 'literally whos' in the list. The people like Kurt Eichenwald and the Diocese are probably going to get thrown to the sue wolves though, Kurt has burned almost all of his bridges and the Catholic higher-ups are hated due to all their controversies including the sex abuse cover ups.

There isn't a magic Jew button that makes a federal lawsuit go away. You can sue the President given enough facts.

In this case, it's just that there isn't a case against a good chunk of these people anyway.

So infamous lolcow Kurt Kikenbald is on the list of 50 individuals/organizations being sent a letter by Sandmann's legal team. I wonder how long before he starts tweeting up a shitstorm about it.
I'm stunned he hasn't already started whining about it. He must not have seen this article. The man is pathologically hardwired not to shut his idiot mouth at the moments he most needs to. This should be a good outburst when it comes.

By that, do you mean the celebrities who were calling for these kids' heads or does that include the news outlets who ran with the story long after the story had been debunked?

Well there's Bill Maher who so far as I can tell said nothing more than that the kid had a shit-eating grin. At least that's all I saw.

Also Jim Carrey is in the list. And unless he did something other than draw that autistic, shitty drawing, I don't know what he did that's supposed to be actionable.

I'm seeing a lot of weird names on that list. A few Catholic Church officials, politicians, and HBO. I suppose HBO's only crime in this was keeping that house nigga Bill Maher employed after his... house nigga moment. The dioceses and arch diocese at the very least owe hand written apologies to the kids for rushing to judgement the way they did. Even Jesus knew how to humble himself when he washed the feet of his disciples. You'd think a few church officials would at least pretend to follow his example.

As for the politicians, the only way I can see them being proven culpable in this is if Wikileaks got their hands on another set of emails showing them colluding with the press to push this narrative. Otherwise I imagine a judge and a jury will look at it and say "Well politicians say dumb shit all the time so..."

They're going after documents. Saying the kid has a shit eating grin is probably one thing, but if he's talking to people behind the scenes saying he hopes the kids life is ruined might change the dynamic because suddenly there is a known motive. Also depends on who he's talking to. How many of these celebs and journos do you think are in communication with each other? Who knows, Maher might not have broken any laws, but he might be dumb enough to delete messages sent to other parties about the kids, and they might be able to get him into slight trouble that way.

I think many of the lawyers are out for fucking blood, especially the ones doing this pro-bono or at reduced fees. And if the lawyers aren't the (relatively wealthy) parents will be. These shitheads targetted kids because of politics. Line in the sand moment, make sure this shit doesn't happen again. The lawyers will have money handed to them hand over fist anyway, so at the very least they can tangle all these people up in lawfare for several months/years and half the unrelated articles that mentions these people will have a sentence mentioning they are being sued for slandering and targeting school children because they are a partisan morally bankrupt hack.

A few Catholic Church officials, politicians, and HBO.

They actually joined in on defaming the kids themselves, before they figured out what was actually going on and backpedaled.

Whether or not they sue them, though, they want them to keep any documents around for discovery. It's highly relevant that the dioceses were misled by the media about this and that it immediately led to negative action motivated by the defamation. They nearly ended up expelled before they even had a chance to respond to the lies.

I'm betting they'll settle on a few good defendants but even the people who aren't getting sued are going to end up dragged into court to answer questions and produce documents, and since the letters are going out, they're on notice that if they destroy evidence, they're open to suit for that as well, or conceivably even criminal prosecution.

Not to be outdone by the his screeching cohorts, Tiny Tim Wise had to open his fucking mouth. And yes, his takes are as terrible as you imagine them to be:
I know it's an old post.

Please, at least archive this stuff,
especially if this guy has a thread here. :/
Most had no archiv.
Add these to your comment please.

Isn't the best option suing the outlets located in the UK, Canada, etc. given their libel laws? I know the UK has tried to clamp down on Americans using the British courts to sue people for libel in recent years, but is the Guardian still more vulnerable than the New York Times or American outlets? Or some Canadian idiot who opened their mouth on this case?

The List has been released and it is loooooooong. Over 50 people and organizations apparently. Here is the memo. Can't find the actual list for some reason.

The list of defendants who did nothing actionable would make Maddox blush.

The people aren't necessarily being sued, they're being told not to delete/trash shit involving the issue. His school, for example, if the principal sent an email to staff saying, "Oh shit, we have to expel this fuck after what I saw on CNN", that email would be valuable for proving that CNN did him harm with their reporting, even if the school itself is not going to be sued.

THIS GONNA BE GOOD
Bloody fantastic video. Serves as a warning shot across the bow too, with a few naughty people featured. Might want to start retracting and apologising, just in case more videos are made...
~220k views is decent, but hopefully it gets a lot more exposure.
