Debated about putting this in the unpopular opinions thread... It has denuvo and it's $70, the failings of modern gaming. But honestly, as much as these things bother me, I'm not going to let it detract me from enjoying a good game. And IOI's Hitman reboot trilogy was awesome. I'm expecting basically reskinned Hitman, and I can't deny that I'm ok with that. Anything beyond that is just gravy.
Anyone else on board?

Hope you liked it, it's so much more than just a Hitman reskin.
I finished it! I did enjoy it. It was surprisingly not Hitman like, and that actually ended up being kinda a mark against it. Still good, but I feel like amazon really tried to enforce what they wanted the James Bond IP to be in game form, and pushed the studio a bit out of their comfort zone. In some ways, it worked well, like driving is something I didn't see in hitman, but it worked out well here, but it also felt like there was some mild jank in trying to make it feel cinematic. But it was nice to see a return to older forms of things like reflections and pre-rendered cutscenes. Sure, it made some of the transitions to cut scene a bit awkward, but it also was a stable game that didn't take up a bunch of space.
Honestly, my biggest complaint was that the new James Bond isn't really James Bond. He's a bit.... too emotional in some ways. Like he feels less in control, but he's also supposed to be younger and more inexperienced. It's not that big of a deal. Also, hearing him repeat himself when you're trying to figure out puzzles got annoying. They could've toned that down.
But all in all a great game, and didn't feel like it overstayed its welcome.

That's one of the reasons I loved it so much. It wasn't just "Hitman with hair."

They didn't have much hand in this one as the project was started and announced literal years before Amazon bought the IP.

I disagree. I was so worried he wouldn't be James Bond but he was banging sluts and making punny quips and defying orders. He's the young, inexperienced Bond who just joined MI6, even less experienced than Craig was at the beginning of Casino Royale before he was 007.

That's true. But it's that "video gamey" aspect to it that I looked past.

Like I posted in chat thread - goddamn was this thing clunky as all hell.

Melee especially in tight spaces, which is 90% of the time, is absolute garbage with fixed FoV and how zoomed in it is. Gunplay sucks huge balls too since there is no hip fire and you just start throwing hands without looking downsights. Vehicle chases are huge parts of 007 and vehicle driving here feels atrocious.

Proper linear bond story with great cutscenes but utterly meaningless dialog options that bear zero weight.

For 70 fucking bucks......this should've just been a Telltale game for like $30 at the very best.

Well because he's almost straight up Henry from kingdom come, lmao.

Yeah it was clunky. I wouldn't say a telltale game. I put it in line with something like the new wolfenstine games or metro. A linear experience with some open world elements.
No game should be $70... That's a shame and we just let them do that. "Oh but expenses have gone up." Yeah and you guys load it up with microtransactions and shit and additional versions that cost more. And those were the first to get price bumps, the games like 2k. Fuck this pricing.
But is it on par with other $70 games? Yeah. It's a solid game. Honestly, I'm happy it didn't try to do too much. Didn't try to use ray tracing for the mirrors, didn't bloat itself out. Just a solid story game and I was happy with it.
Driving was better than I expected. Is it good? No. Very floaty, but I expected worse.
I don't need options to bear weight though. Just a fun thing to make more cinematic moments feel less like you're just watching a movie.
I think pausing didn't work during cutscenes tho. That's always very annoying
And never played Kingdom Come so....

Oh don't you even. Metro was buttery-smooth in comparison all around.

Besides google Henry, go treat yourself, and hell, start with #2 because it literally improved every goddamn single thing from the first. It's a FPS RPG experience unlike anything else quite honestly and immersion is impeccable.

Didn't that one director guy who's always on Twitter turn into a wokescold between the 1st and 2nd games?

He had a Blackie in the 2nd game and they did an Easter egg where you have to go out of your way to suck dick.

Hardly woke. He got tired of grifters calling it woke. And called them out. They were just having fun making their dream game.

Controversies came during one of the heights of SBI bull shit.

Game 1 was about a literal shit-flipper son of a blacksmith becoming, moreso, so where is all the hate coming from? There was literally 1 melanin non-important character in 2nd and pretty much nothing else but typical honky'ing around, so why the fuck are people seething over the series more than wasting their typical daily time sniffing ass hairs of jewtubers no one ought to know existed in the first place?

Yeah, you're way better off playing the first one with Henry "The Cuman Killer" of Skalitz.

And yes, that's actually the name of a perk you automatically unlock after killing enough Cumans.

Kill Cumans. Behead Cumans. Roundhouse kick a Cuman into the dirt. Slam dunk a Cuman baby into the midden heap. Crucify filthy Cumans.

They didn't play it. Just jumped on cause clicks pay.

What?
I wasn't saying metro wasn't... I was saying how it's more or less a linear experience that puts you through a route with occasional open segments.
But since you talk about metro's performance, it was NOT buttery smooth. Sure, the optimization is great. It runs great performance wise, but there are some GLARING bugs the devs failed to fix even when re-releasing it. For example, when cloud saves were causing corruption, rather than fix it, they just turned off cloud saves. Then there's the bugs like how the game would sometimes just crash in Caspian at the lighthouse. We accept so much shit just because they're an eastern European dev. And why? Exodus wasn't some small game.
