Honestly, given how young little Xander is, it would be a good move to give him up for adoption.

Younger kids typically get adopted very quick unlike their older counter parts. Also, familys that adopt are very put together due to the amount of screening that is done.

Like other posters have said, it would stop his life from being a specticale and give him a chance at a proper upbringing where he never knows about his thread and that he was basically concived in order to own the A-logs.

Vickers might have sat down with Faith and her mother at one point and discussed what the plan of action was, where adoption was maybe brought up as an idea; as a Conservative who believes single teenaged mothers are not best equipped to raise a child, especially when the abusive biological father is still around, he probably suggested it and said it was a viable option. To which Faith and mother disagreed. That's if it even happened. But if you believe it is something he is actively pushing for, you also believe that Faith was raped by her neighbor, then got on the school bus and was gang-raped by every male onboard while the bus driver looked and laughed.

She is a BPD mess of a woman just coming off being pregnant. She does not like being told what to do. She makes terrible life choices. This is why this is being said.

Faith herself would never give up that baby, specifically because of her nearly psychotic desire to be a mother at any cost. Looking at her snaps to Ralph, it's clear that the reality of being a single mother has not sunk in. Her talks about "support networks" and "lots of family" indicate that she still thinks that having a baby entitles her to be cared for by her relatives. Faith intuitively knows she can't hack it by herself as a single mom, but still wants to be one anyways.

The truth probably lies somewhere in between. Babies ain't cheap. Matt has many mouths to feed. Faith doesn't earn income and almost certainly isn't ready to be a parent. Matt and Mrs. Vickers are probably taking on a lot of additional responsibilities they didn't want or ask for. Xander would definitely be better off if allowed to be adopted by a vetted family.

I can believe the adoption conversation happened because adoption is really the only option that makes sense. As much as we all shit on Vickers for being a hot-headed, short-sighted goofball, he is not completely bereft of all senses of pragmatism. I can totally buy Matt in particular is trying to strongarm Faith into doing what is the best option for everyone involved.
