He's definitely seen them. A fight scene between Chris-Chan Sonichu and Reldnahc Sonichu in issue 10 was more or less directly traced from one between Sonic and Knuckles - I think - from one of the Archie issues, which is why the art quality suddenly improves in that one scene.

Considering his tendency to overreact to everything, I'm surprised he hasn't shared any thoughts on the comics changing hands from Archie to IDW. Wonder what the lord of creative bankruptcy Chris Chandler has to say about the king of creative lawsuits Ken Penders.

Either way from what I've seen of the Sonic Forces character maker, its a pretty standard if not occasionally janky looking character creator. I'm not sure what Chris was exactly expecting from it--its basically the 3D official version of all those awful 'Create Ur Sonic' character makers on DeviantART and Newgrounds. I can't imagine why anyone would expect it to have Sims level customization but then again, this is Chris we're talking about.

Out of all the Sonic properties, the one he showed the least interest in is the Archie comics. So this is not surprising.

Consider that even Chris knows how to use search Google Images to get those reference photos/scans. So he may have never even read those comics, because IIRC, he didn't even rip off any of the Archie OCs.

Also, why would Chris even care which publisher makes Sonic comics? He saw Sonic on NINTENDO games & consoles and didn't bat an eye.

Chris is essentially a middle-aged kid, and kids don't care what corporate logos flash on the screen in front of them, but his autism and its subsequent emotional attachment to inanimate things make him deeply care about any big changes that happen to the character itself, hence the Blarms saga (which of course, was also influenced by other circumstances, but I digress).

I think this is essentially true, though it could be several factors. Chris never seemed to have much interest in comics in general. Even his Sonichu comics were conceived of as cartoon, to the point where he called them "episodes" rather than chapters or volumes. Its jusy that he never had the technical skill to make actual cartoons.

It's hard to say why Chris hasn't been interested in comics. It's quite possible Bob could never find them; comics used to be a bit of a niche thing. Comic shops weren't quite so ubiquitous and book stores like Borders and Barnes & Noble didn't always stock them. The best bet was getting a subscription or, failing that, supermarkets. More likely though, Chris being the lazy autistic wonder he is simply wasn't as interested in comics as he was cartoons and video games. Thus he may have thumbed through an issue or two because "ZOMG!!! SANIC!!!" but the characters likely never felt as "real" to him. Not in his current sense of "oh they're real in another dimension," but in the sense that he could see the characters moving around on a TV set. Comics are boring for him. They require reading and using imagination.

Whoever published it is irrelevant to him, and any new characters (if he noticed) wouldn't have been part of his accepted canon. They were fakes, imposters, just like the jerkops who wear brown uniforms instead of blue.

Another note to add here is that Sonic holds a special status to Chris, he's been a true friend ever since Chris won that sweepstakes prize, note in the video that Chris says that he won because he did what "Sonic says", implying that he thought Sonic is real back then, and while that is true of most kids at that age, it tells me that Chris simply never outgrew this childish belief, rather than him developing it later in life like a lot of Kiwis seem to think. This is why to him, changing Sonic's arms is complete blasphemy, because to him, it's the same if you say, changed Barb into a black woman.

I wouldn't say that Chris never read a comic, because he grasps some of comics' methods of content delivery, like speech/thought bubbles..etc. But yeah, he doesn't intend for Sonichu to be a comic, more like his best representation of a cartoon TV series, as evidenced by him using TV age ratings such as TV-Y7 etc..

But if he was a half-decade or so younger, Sonichu easily could have been a shitty flash animation rather than a shitty comic book.

I suppose had he tried, he could've been an animator (assuming he had learned to hold a pencil correctly).

Back in the 80's, it was still pretty common to find them at convenient stores and supermarket newsstands. I knew of places several blocks from my house that did. I'm sure this all changed in the 90's and leading to what we see today with one or two speciality shops one could find them in. I suppose given the rural location of the Chandlers, such a store, even a food mart, just wasn't in the way for Chris to be begging for a comic each trip.

Even if the imagination is already there for you in the drawings, than reading a regular book and having to picture it in your head.

Much in the way he believed Santa was going to give him a girlfriend one Christmas and it never happened.

Modding on a PS4 (I'm using it as an example because Life Upgrade, Upgrade) is one still unavailable.
Two, if it is possible he can't access PSN because it requires custom software.
And he'll be banned and lose all the 7K DLC he wasted his money on.
