I'm wondering if Marvin can fill us in on Chris' job situation.
Chris claims he tried to find a job, but how much effort did he actually expend? Has he filled out job applications? Has he actually gone in for any job interviews and etc? Has he worked with the DVR (Department of Vocational Rehabilitation, or whatever equivalent there is in Virginia) at looking for jobs he could do?
Filled out a few job applications. Most likely didn't get any calls back. He didn't really approach getting a job from the angle of "awesome, more money!", but the angle of "let me put in the bare minimum to say I tried, so I can shut these bitches up and they'll blow me".
And that whole thing with 'a paycheck cuts into my SSI' is just lazy BS. Chrissy could still work a part time job and keep most if not all of his SSI depending on how much he earns... so he would actually have more income than before.
Yeah, we squished the tugboat excuse (by the way, it's SSDI, which is a different program from SSI, with different rules; the difference doesn't matter here, but just for the record...) pretty early on. The next excuse was that he can't apply for jobs because he his background check is dirty because of the trolls.
Now, I know that doesn't make sense. The background check can't prevent him from making an application. It might only, possibly,
maybe, sink his application after it's been received. It's not like a football player with a "BACKGROUND CHECK" jersey will tackle Chris' paper application before it reaches the manager's hand.
Chris doesn't make these excuses in good faith. Chris thinks the world is scary. Trying to wrangle the scary world is a scary proposition and Chris reasonably believes he'll fail at it. Even if he ultimately succeeds, he knows he'll be in minimum wage bondage the rest of his life. Chris would rather be a helpless loser, being ground into dust by fate, than to try and fail, and then be judged by that failure personally.
Chris strongly believes himself to be helpless. He thinks the suggestions people offer him are rigged, and no one in real life could make that succeed. So when you offer those suggestions, Chris thinks you're fucking with him.
But then that would take work, and why should he have to work when he can beg for money instead? (eyeroll)
Honestly? Because it works.
Yeah but those down syndrome People don't have a entire wiki that shows up as soon as you simply google them that documents their odd and often disgusting shenanigans and a forum discussing them.
People bring this up a lot, and I don't really get it. Like, admittedly, I'm hot a hiring manager at a retail / fast food place, but I can't imagine any of them google their applicants, do they?
Like, if the manager at a mcdonalds out in the sticks googled an employee, saw some pictures of him partying and getting trashed, would they not hire him based on that? Or what if they were a juggalo? It's mcdonalds. I'm sure plenty of juggalos across the US work at mcdonalds.
If the applicant has a pulse, what possible reason could they have to not hire them, based on something they'd see online? I imagine they'd look at the cwcki, glance at it a bit, see that he's a weirdo and has a weird personal site, and then gloss over it.
Or am I off the mark here? (It's been awhile since I've worked in fast food, but my theory certainly jives with what I remember...)
