For a serious response: Aside from the direct patronage of superchats and memberships, as well as the ad revenue, which get split between the vtubers and their companies, at the top end they create personal and group branding that is highly valuable for promotional purposes. Hololive, one of the two large corporate agencies, has had its characters appear in commercials for instant curry, cross-promotions with restaurant chains and tech companies (Botan, the actual good-at-games Esports-vet and tech expert of Hololive, was slated to have a cross promotion with ASUS until ASUS' Chinese branch went rogue and sabotaged the relationship over the Taiwan incident). Gura, from Hololive's English-speaking branch, had a brief cameo in a Taco Bell commercial for last year's Super Bowl. Those deals are worth $$$ to the corporation. Hololive itself was originally formed as a promotional endeavor for their parent corporation, Cover, to advertise Cover's VR/AR tech, although by this point I suspect that Hololive is probably Cover's biggest asset/revenue stream.

More like who is this. Pippa was indirectly skilled on one of the Metokur streams around new years or christmas. Next you hear she's commentating on Ethan Ralph. Pippa is either a kiwi or someone from ye olde bloodsport days for sure. Maybe even Jade.
