Yeah I think that was one of the grave mistakes made with the situation, is the continuous attention given to the parties in the matter. All the front page updates and egging on instead of laughing and moving on from the situation, just gave them more attention and ammo to use to support their efforts. ignoring when people attacked the site often worked in the end.

Hopefully pausing things and taking a step back will help even though we're far into the matter now. Hell who knows, attention doesn't last long on the internet. They'll find another thing to fight and bitch about when you don't give a reaction.

Honestly? Yes, I think that having a thread that consists of a bunch of frothing a-logs who knowingly speak indirectly to people like Keffals should count. I have no problem wishing for a blanket Day of the X for pedophiles or subversives or what have you, but there are a lot of people who spend all day posting about how much they hate someone and wish they would DIE DIE DIE. It's fucking disturbing and even a normal person would start to wonder about the motives of something like that. Everyone has to fight the urge to fedpost when they hear about some of the behavior of these horrible human beings, but there's a marked difference between posting "I wish he'd 41% already" once a year and once a day. One indicates disdain, one indicates obsession.

I've been telling a-logs to cut it the fuck out for years. Chris-chan is one of the most reprehensible people on the planet (or was, by Before Current Year standards), and it was still official policy to lol calm down from the get-go. Why? Because people like Bluespike make Chris into a sympathetic figure. Your grandma doesn't care about the Love Quest or Liquid Chris or any of that shit. Here's a quick rule of thumb. Imagine the nice man on the TV reading your post to your mom. How does your mom take it? If she's horrified, don't post it. Because odds are non-zero that this exact scenario will in fact happen, if not to your mom, then to hundreds of thousands of MSM-watching moms across the globe who are now rooting for our destruction. This, coming from the person who supposedly wanted the Farms silenced in the first place.

As much as people like Keffals might cry out for the silencing of those who would slander them, in actuality, they desire the conflict precisely for the reasons that Null and a few others have identified. They cannot sustain themselves without an active enemy. They will inevitably turn on each other when deprived of what they perceive as the biggest, unifying threat against them.

They will always find a reason to be offended, even if it's against one another.

I'm just here for the interesting info, drama, and general fat shenanigans. I've lurked around for years before making an account just for the Chris stuff. So for someone like me it can be.. a bit overwhelming and offputting how rabid some people here can be about the politics and shit..

At the same time, it is part of the charm that people can speak freely, and there's so many different sections of the forum that you don't really have to worry too much about running into your garden variety white supremacist while talking about fat women that eat too much so its all good. But to a total outsider, yeah, some people are a really bad look here. If something needs to be done about that, I dunno, probably don't matter at this point.
