(God DAMMIT, Cowichan Valley! (:_(:heart-empty::horrifying:)

Besides the 20 year old main perpetrator (powerword: Joshua Michael Lemire), a 16 year old girl and a 17 year old boy (neither of whom can be named because Juvenile) were also arrested, charged with animal cruelty, and let out on bail. This appeared to be some form of cyberbullying of the cat's owner, a 16 year old girl. The cat had to be taken to the vet and tested positive for MDMA and amphetamines. The ears of the cat had 666 written in one, and "My cat" written in the other, presumably with permanent marker.

Also in case you were wondering, Sherman Road area (where the cat was found after the perps let it go) is a bad area with an inexplicably high number of outright insane people--and it's been that way for over 40 years. The place is literally Bully Central. Lots of rental houses rented by people who abuse the shit out of the property, drug houses and illicit pot grow-ops, lots of autists, and people that seem just plain fuxed in the head--and of course none of these people can raise kids properly. The term "white trash" comes to mind. Probably something in the water. Some people call it "Hindu Heights" despite the fact that the "Hindus" are in fact Sikhs (pronounced "seeks") and they have a temple up that way, and the Sikhs are most of the only normal people in the area.

Trisomy 21.

I'm not surprised the kids got their hands on party drugs (they could probably get it off that one house on O'hannikey road) but holy crap their parents (oh who am I kidding, if all 3 perps have intact non-brady-bunched families, I'll eat my hat) must either be out of the house (working) a lot or just not give the barest of shits that their kid was out getting drugs and feeding it to a cat and shaving a cat. IN their house. AT FUCKING 2 AM.

I recognize the last name of the kid but not the first name, but I don't know if he's related to those I knew with that last name.

Yes they also say that about people taking it. Whats your point, cat probably loved it

Ignoring the, mostly compelling, arguments made by @Koby_Fish it's pretty fucked to dose any living thing with psychotropics without their knowledge/consent.

A cat is a lot smaller than a human. A human's dose of ANY drug will likely kill a dog or cat. If they hadn't got that cat to the vet, that cat probably WOULD be dead by now. Vets say never give human painkillers (in human dosages) to pets, it can kill them. Besides, some drugs that can be safely used by humans are lethal to pets. Hell, CHOCOLATE is deadly to cats and dogs.

That dose information is probably often correct, but not always. Golden Retrievers, for instance, must have much lower sensitivity to benzodiazepines. I remember the vet suggested giving him (a 45 pound dog) 5mg klonopins to get him to stop barking when I was at work.

Edit:
But it didnt die did it
Don't draw on your pets either.

Yeah, like I said, some things that are ok for people aren't OK for pets, and the reverse goes as well. Different animals have different metabolisms and thus different sensitivities to various drugs. This is why Carfentanil is used to tranquilize deer, elk, and moose, but can be deadly to humans.
