Futurism before the turn of the century seemed optimistic, modern futurism seems corporate and rigid. But for some reason there’s Something about 2000s futurism felt strangely relaxed despite also feeling counter culture . I can’t explain it. Post pics and talk about what you miss about it or what you remember, why you like it, if you wish it would come back.

I honestly feel that in addition to the music being better, people being more chill/pleasant to be around and friendlier, entertainment and technology being a lot more rewarding in general and society being healthier:

The women were hotter too. Women don't really look all that unique anymore and they seem completely oblivious to men to an unreasonable degree. I never experienced it being a 28 year old dude, but learning that women could dress in cool ass getup like these makes me miss the 2000s alot. It would make me a helluva lot more interested in the fairer sex. (I know some of these are advertisements but the chicks are still hot). It's a lot better than the modern "look like an actual whore" fashion we have and on the other side "look like a church lady even though you're only 18-20something". It brings out a woman's beauty without being immodest.

I kinda wish we just stayed in the 2000s forever culturally, but I'm glad I got to experience everything from 2004 onwards and have a heaping of good memories of elementary and middle school friends and the stupid shit we did. It really was the end of a peaceful era.

Yeah I remember distinctly around the time everyone getting a cellphone people changed. Mainly how people answered the door.
Before cellphones: oh I wonder who that could be? Maybe it’s my neighbor.
After cellphones: FUCK! Pretend we’re not home. SHIT! Did they see me? I don’t want to get dressed!

The internet was still a PLACE you went TO. It didn’t follow you around everywhere.

Everything futuristic had to be curved and translucent or transparent. The more extreme concept cars from that period reflected the zeitgeist, wheels had to stick out from a body that had been extensively curved for 'aerodynamics'.

Apparently, "Frutiger Aero" as it has been retroactively named was considered corporate slop when it was contemporary if you go back and look at people complaining how 'childish' the design of XP and 7's aesthetic were on forums. I like it enough but I wonder how people would feel about this aesthetic without nostalgia.
One thing I noticed in all these ads, though, is that there's no fatties. Maybe that's what went wrong in society.

in 20 years people will be reminiscing fondly about the good old days when we had a bunch of alegria vector people, flat colors, gaussian blurs, and rounded corners everywhere

I miss this era of aesthetics. Everything felt so lively and beautiful, whereas everything is just lifeless flat corporate slop.
Look at old ads like these and see how many brands and companies no longer exist, or have been acquired and folded into some giant corporation.

Less competition means things get homogenized because there is no longer any incentive to compete. The oligopoly wants equilibrium for all of its participants so that they can all make the most money.
