So I ran into someone today while I was waiting for my sister…he was trying to ruin the Sonic Boom games display and had mace and sprayed some random dude when they said he was banned and started calling security…

I feel this is worth reposting in the official discussion thread. It's a summary of the information obtained from the police scanner.

This recording is nearly two hours long and starts with the initial (garbled, partial) police dispatch. What follows is two hours of police radio traffic which includes other crimes being responded to. I can't understand it half the time, but through this you will learn that...

...The police called Barb and Chris.
...Chris knocked on someone's window in the parking lot.
...Chris also caused "trouble" at the Sears store.
...Chris' "new car" is actually registered to Barb.
...Chris MAY HAVE BEEN taken into custody, but it's hard to tell. A "suspect in custody" call does immediately precede them running his plates, though.

I don't think the last 30 minutes have anything relating to this incident, but I included them in case someone can understand more than I could. I listen to the scanner as a hobby, and can usually understand what most people can't, but this is probably the worst I've ever heard.

Additionally, the following was apparently verified in the thread:

I just confirmed by phone. Christian Chandler is held in the Albemarle County Jail right now.

Link to how this user found out is omitted to cut down on weenery.

Important "rumour control" issues:

- This is not a violation of his probation because Chris's probation was only one year and expired in 2013.
- It is likely Chris is in custody at the Albemarle County Jail.
- According to the police scanner, Chris knocked on some MALE's door in the parking lot, and they called the police.
- Again, according to the police scanner, Chris caused problems in Sears.
- It was confirmed that the substance used was pepper spray. The affected Gamestop clerk is not injured and the store was not closed.

This means that Chris is facing the following potential problems:

- The events in the Gamestop constitute assault. If charges will be pressed, or if Chris will receive a planet-wide bann from Gamestop remains to be seen.
- The "Sears Incident", details about which are not currently known, including if any crimes were committed.
- The "carpark incident", again, about which we know very little.
- A strong possibility Chris resisted arrest; conjecture based on the police scanner.
- Barb knows.

There has been radio silence from Chris so far which is natural given he is in county lockup.

Dark times lay ahead for our autistic hero.

User "blackie toy" provides the following transcript of the police scanner:

  • (38.000 sec.) I'm at the location <garbled> Described as a white male, five-foot-nine with long brown hair, <garbled> wearing two sets of glasses and fake breasts. His name is supposed to be Christopher Chandler.
  • (95.000 sec.)<garbled> You can disregard the call at the mall <garbled/squelched>
  • (212.630 sec.)<garbled> here at the mall, <garbled> one time he had <garbled> banned from the mall.
  • (619.750 sec.)<garbled> thinkin' that, uh, Chris Chandler, white male <garbled> long, brown hair <garbled> right now <garbled>
  • (645.369 sec.)He's a white male wearing a pink miniskirt... No... <break> <garbled> skirt and two pairs of glasses.
  • (1027.185 sec.)<garbled> in the mall <garbled> the suspect <garbled>
  • (1069.750 sec.)<garbled> I checked the immediate area and <garbled> wasn't <garbled> there... damage or anything <garbled> two-ninety-dash-one <garbled> type damage. (This one might not be related to Chris.)
  • (1220.000 sec.)<garbled> the suspect, <garbled> he's still in the mall, uh, he <garbled>
  • (1385.000 sec.)<garbled> hold off for a second <garbled> stay loose in the parking lot, <garbled> somewhere in the mall <garbled> check the bus stop.
  • (1506.610 sec.)<garbled> mall security's gonna spread out, they know who he is, uh they are gonna tell the mobile unit <squelched> try to make a run for it.
  • (1521.000 sec.)We're <garbled> the mall <garbled>
  • (1567.020 sec.)Prolly lost the <garbled> from, uh, Sears, <garbled> J.C. Penney <garbled> check their floor <garbled/squelched> give 'em the description <garbled> the, uh, male, five-nine wearin' a skirt <garbled>
  • (~1642 sec.) There's a discussion between a man and a woman on the channel about mall security's phone numbers (:alog:, they don't give any numbers out) which I can't quite make out (I think dealing with whether the anchor stores have separate security numbers), including a discussion about camera access (that, again, I can't quite make out).
  • (1674.000 sec.)That number <garbled> I called was actually his mother. She said he was driving a blue Ford Focus but she didn't have the tag. And she didn't have a phone number for him.
  • (1692.030 sec.)Yeah, I <garbled> the first time I called that number like he really just <garbled> that prolly wasn't that <garbled> try to call her.
  • (1767.060 sec.)<squelched> Uh we have like, <garbled> phone call from <garbled> the suspect <garbled> <garbled, sounds like "writing" or "riding"> columns. He was calling regarding the card that he left on his door. I'm assuming that means he's at that location <garbled> another unit.
  • (1862.840 sec.)<garbled> blue Ford Focus <garbled>
  • (~1999 sec.) There was a request for a registration check on a plate. The registration check did not come back to Chris, so I'm not bothering transcribing the portion.
  • (2382.000 sec.)I will be out with the, uh, <garbled> subject for the <garbled>, um, at the J.C. Penney parking lot at the mall.
  • (2472.670 sec.)Do you have the, uh, license number on <garbled>? <break> <different person responding> Negative, she... she didn't know it, and I... can't find anything on it.
  • (~2767 sec.) There's a note of one male in custody. Based on subsequent radio traffic, I do not believe this could have been Chris.
  • (2961.540 sec.)What's the, uh, mom's name... for the registration? <different person responding> Barbara.
  • (3681.988 sec.)I'm over here by <unintelligible> in the mall parking lot. Can you <garbled> here please?
  • (3877.369 sec.)I just got word from mall security. <garbled> he went into Sears, caused issues, and he left out the front door about thirty minutes ago. <garbled> left by now.
