I've just finished watching a movie on Netflix, "Mary and Max". It's about a
poor girl in Australia who becomes pen pals with an American with Aspergers (or
autism). I enjoyed their back and forths, then came the questions from Mary
about Love, which confounded Max too much. And they each get a candy heart
reading, "Love Yourself First". Yeah, I realized I never really fully
understood how to love myself. Aside from acceptance of flaws, forgiving
myself, appreciate the positives, yada, yada, yada...

I don't know. Maybe I recommend you watching the movie for yourself and
offering your response to my thought.

I am crying right now from how the movie ended (spoiler emotional alert). Good
story, though.

Stay Safe with Peace,
Christian W. Chandler

So Chris disregards forgiving himself, accepting himself and appreciate the positives over the negatives as usual, but being moved about a story of a man with Aspergers? Surprising, but don't count on it.

That and Chris isn't typing Like this to add More Meaning to the Words. Maybe it's because I fully noticed?

I'm surprised a movie made Chris cry. I'm not saying he doesn't have feelings but it normally takes quite a bit or something he can directly relate to. Considering this movie sounds like it's about a guy with aspergers/autism who has trouble grasping the concept of love while messaging a girl he's never met I can see how he can identify with it.

Although I will not be surprised if I look up the movie on imdb and find out it got shit reviews.

I'm glad Chris had this breakthrough. Now if only there was some sort of day where WE could love...Christian...aw, hell. That'd never take off.

Does anyone know if that overpriced Apple shit automatically capitalises words, or leaves them lowercase? That would be a possible explanation as to the unusual format of this letter.

If the former does not, then I would doubt the latter's authenticity.

Max is 44 and obese while Mary is 8, the movie takes place over the course of 20 years or something like that. It's got an 8.2 on imdb, seems like a sappy animated film to me.

Chris actually being moved by a story about a kid with Asperger's? So much for them stealing the limelight from "true autistics". Whatever is the world coming to these days?

Chris is a sad lonely autistic man desperate for companionship. Of course the movie tugs at his heartstrings. The difference being that in Max & Mary, Max is just a lonely fellow looking for friendship whereas Chris is a fat pervert looking for easy booty and a sugar momma. Kind of takes the romance right out of the comparison.

Honestly, I'm thrilled that there's some conviction from his prime trolling days that he ISN'T still clinging to. I know it's not a sign that his mental faculties have changed in any meaningful way, but it's still nice to see.

The fact that he says that Max has Aspergers or Autism show that one Chris recognizes Aspergers as a thing and two that Chris realizes that the two aren't so different.
It is a sign of progress, it took him a while but he has become less stupid, if only a very miniscule amount.

Chris is actually right when he says he doesn't love himself. You can be incredibly selfish and still not love yourself. Some people in a remarkably sick turn of events dislike themselves so much that they practice selfish behavior to push those who love them away. At the risk of sounding like Jaden Smith, you usually dislike someone who loves someone you deeply hate, even if that person is yourself.

People who love themselves are confident and treat themselves well at least. Chris has neither of these traits. He a series of insecurities and failures. He's lived in a shithole for almost 32 years and refuses to do anything that would benefit him in the long or short term. That is not what people who love themselves do.

The short version? Depression has been described as anger turned toward ones self. Chris has been seriously depressed for some time now. So its perfectly plausible to say he doesnt love himself.

Now has Chris realized all this shit I just broke down? Probably not. But just an FYI.

Is it weird that this movie has Phillip Seymour Hoffman in it, who kinda looked like Chris, playing a man with Asperger's?

Great, now I'm think of Philip Seymour Hoffman and I'm sad. Damn you Chris for making me feel human emotions.

Hmmm...

My phone only does it after a period, so no.
