People leveraged the things they knew would get Chris to respond. They falsely offered him things that they knew he couldn't refuse. That's exactly why it was cruel.

I don't think Chris falling for the troll sweethearts was quite as dumb as people make it out to be. Not that it wasn't dumb, just not epically dumb.

In a lot of ways, it was a calculated risk. He was always suspicious people were trolling him. But I got the sense he felt like it was a good idea to risk trolling if there was a chance it could actually be a sweetheart.

The dumbest part is that his troll shields were not perfect at removing trolls but they were much more likely to be effective at removing actual women. If Chris is actually the way he sees himself and is attractive to some women, one thing guaranteed to put off someone making a casual inquiry over the internet is going through a screening process.

The only times Chris managed to meet actual women who were (semi-)interested in his friendship was when he went out IRL (Megan, Wallflower), that should have been his first hint.

Chris's then-strategy was deeply flawed because he never actually went out enough to actually meet women, and even when he did, he essentially planted his attraction sign and waited for someone to come to him. The trollsonas were a problem because they only re-inforced that mentality in his mind.

Additionally, if you check the earlier Josh Wise leaks, he mentioned that Chris admitted to him that he went along with some trollsonas for the companionship despite suspecting that they are in fact trolls.

How many times can we call Anna McLerran of Utah an attention-seeking faux-lesbian whore before it becomes repetitive and the thread ends up getting merged into the thread she already has here which is liable to get reopened if she keeps pulling this bullcrap?
