DSP's actual content has been beyond parody for well over a year now. Even detractors have given up on it. TIHYDPs have been trash since I don't know when. I think there was a Need for Speed one last year that was ok maybe? The best kahntent comes when real life happens and Dave struggles to cope and overshares his life with his audience because he's socially inept and has no one to talk to IRL. Look at him. He's so toxic even game devs turn their nose up at getting dirt-cheap publicity from him. No other streamers want anything to do with him. He can't expand his audience beyond finding the occasional sped whale to throw thousands at him for attention like Wagginz. His girlfriend is a exceptional succubus and is slowly bleeding him dry and visibly wants nothing to do with him. Even little things, like the balding denial. Everything about DSP's life that he shares with us is hilarious, but his actual content is fucking unwatchable garbage that needs to be filtered through 3 or 4 parties before it can be processed.

I second that, if it wasn't for his begging and complaining pre-streams that detractors edit and meme with, he'd be completely boring.

To repeat what I said a few days ago, an oddity like Phil or any of the people chronicled on this site is an extreme metaphor of our time. Meaningless, seemingly outside of time, hyperreal, etc. Yes, Phil will prolly be around forever (which makes trying to eek out some justice by reporting him pointless), symbolically floating for us in some abject social void the way we all are. But there's no Grand Finale for these people any more than there is for our Meaningless West. It's all just decay through a black hole.

To lose a big part of the boredom and frustration people keep returning to, I think we need to remind ourselves that, first, he's mentally ill. A symbol of our time, Phil can't be expected to behave "normally" any more than you could expect our Economies to behave in the "normal", visually understandable way they were before Globalism. That would require forces of energy to develop, expend, and direct, Newtonian Physics that died out in the 30's with the emergence of Quantum Physics and our social black hole.

And second, and prolly the most important (and obvious), is that he's literally just a person. We're complaining about a human being not being entertaining enough.

I mostly agree with this, but I think the big thing is Phil getting banned from Twitch and YouTube because of something *he* did, not something the detractor community did. I guess I'd compare it to watching a movie like The Room or Birdemic or a Breen flick. Those movies work because the people trying to make them are genuinely incompetent and bad at what they are doing, but have no self awareness and feel like they deserve to be big movie hotshots. In comparison, someone who sets out to emulate those style of movies usually ends up making something incredibly dull, or something that is just too self referential to the original.

Sometimes the detractors manage to do something that leads to a good Phil freakout. The chair stuff is the most recent thing that comes to mind. To actually wrap this back around to the thread topic, I don't think reporting him to game devs has the same impact. I think with the chair, the difference is there wasn't a lot else that could happen with that. I don't even know what they were expecting, since Phil doesn't even sit on a chair for his streams so you can't argue it would be a background thing. Weekly sponsored streams or however often he does the bounty streams are going to be boring. It's going to be fake Phil on display and won't lead to solid Phil gold. It's the fallout that I think is worth looking forward to. Seeing how Phil's chat reacts, seeing Phil try to justify how he isn't being a hypocrite etc. If he keeps trying to do bounties, I think it will lead to his regulars getting bored, or even someone like Sidella slipping up and saying something particularly awful, which leads to Phil finally having to address it and do something and then the inevitable spergging from Sid or whichever whale gets harpooned.

Would it be great if Phil was always producing high quality Phil drama? Absolutely. But, no cow reliably does that. Just look at Chris chan as an example of that. You can force someone to be a cow, sure, but it isn't particularly funny. If things with Phil feel slow and dull, which let's be real, happens quite a bit, move onto another cow and just check back in with Phil every so often. Now that he has his own subforum it's a lot easier to track when something big happens because it gets a thread, and other noteworthy Phil events have been featured before, so you can safely duck away for awhile and not miss anything. Other than that, eh, Phil isn't worth giving attention to if you're not getting any entertainment from it. If you think fucking with him is entertaining go nuts, just don't plan it here or come here right after expecting praise. If you do something that is funny, someone is bound to see and report on it. Otherwise, it just comes off as a boring "fuck Phil" style post. Honestly, best place for that is in Tevin's chat or something. It's a lot more fun to shit on someone in realtime there in the moment versus on a forum after something has happened.

Individuals communicating with one another is nearly impossible. Especially in text. Especially on the internet. Especially on this site. And especially about Phil.

It's not easy to discuss DSP. He's a phenomenon birthed in the realm of dead communication. He could only exist on the internet, the place where language went to die.

All that said, I do hope my bullshit is adding to the conversation somehow and not just stringing along an argument :/

Only reason he's doing that is because twitch fucked him for harassment and he's gonna be a good boy dindu nuffin on mixer. If he's going to crack down on people shitting on DSP, his views will dry up. A few of the diehards will stick around, but say goodbye to nearly a thousand people on his streams.

I dunno. I've sat in his twitch chat and it wasn't much tamer than the YouTube crowd. People regularly call Phil a zoophile and a white nationalist, though that's more focused on the sidella kid.

I guess it just depends on where you want to draw the line? It's ok to say Phil fucks animals but it's not ok to say you hope he gets murdered by AIDS infested Seattle hobos? It's ok to call DSP Dave "killing spree in KFC" Bennet and his sidekick Alex "The One Man Klan" Sidella but it's not ok to say it would be funny if his back gave out and he was paralyzed?

I don't know, but if Tevin is gonna start moderating chat a bit harsher I don't think a lot of people will last.

If I've learned something from the study of Philip "Pigroach" Burnell is he isn't the instant gratification lolcow (I mean he personally is) but you can't troll him and get results.

With Phil you have to play the long game. You have to just wait for him to slip up and then watch as he scrambles to pick the pieces up as the detractors signal boost his stupidity.

The best detractors are like Tevin. They sit there calm and chill just slightly mocking him but not trying to go on the offensive. That's what pisses Phil off the most is when people like Tevin just lightly jab since it can't really backfire. Phil just has take it and then when he makes a huge mistake he gets hammered on by everyone.

I think of Phil gets taken down it'll be by one of two ways:

1. He just completely goes full autist to the point where Twitch has to do something and he gets banned and it's a domino effect.

2. People take Tevin's approach. Instead of each detractor trying to be the "Pigroach slayer" and they all start working together and give him a death by a thousands of papercuts. Phil has already proven he can't take it when people like Tevin restream and mock him. Picture each detractor doing something similar. It would cause him to probably have a huge nervous breakdown and he would landslide from there.

I would posit that is why Tevin doesn't have his discord link on those streams.

He's spoken at length about not hating Dave. He openly mocks detractors that go in Dave's stream to try and troll him.

He doesn't really try and reign in his chat (which goes too fast anyway)

But I'd say most of those people are less "Tevin fans" and just detractors watching a restream of Dave. That's why his Twitch numbers were much lower, because they are Tevin fans. And with Youtube not being monetized for him, I don't know how much he cares about viewcounts.
