2018-6-17 DSP tries it - Half Life 2 playthrough - Letsplayers crimes against humanity

Probably, and holy shit was the stream just....terrible today. FakeSydePhil was in full effect. I just don't understand how someone can actually enjoy watching it.

Since its been 8 years when I last played HL2 I decided to give it another try.

Does anyone have any good tips to get a higher framerate in the game?

Maybe if I reduced down from 4k it'd work better?

Do you think Phil could recite any of the games plot?

And I mean real basic shit like 'it starts in city 17 and we meet Barny and Alexis. Then we go through Ravenholme with all the zombies and Nova Prospect with antlions to stop the combine.'

He's fucking around, talking over, or literally looking the wrong way for nearly every single scripted sequence.

I remember a game back in the day that was easy to play and easy to win.

it's a Barney game where you can either press Up on the controller or let it go idle and Barney will move to the goal by himself.

That or he can just play Telltale/Quantic Dream games. Hell give him an old point and click game

Man who plays videogames an average of 6 hours per day with stream chat help is even worse than me at them.
Literally how? I get maybe an hour and a half a day if I'm lucky on this.

Watching his stream now, apparently he never got the crowbar, and he's trying to do a section with no guns, but you kiiiiiind of need the crowbar to beat some barnacles before they chomp you to death, using their tentacle as a "ladder" to get to another ladder.

How the fuck do you not get the crowbar? Was he trying to be funny or is he that blind?

He raged at a guy who asked so I think he really is that blind. He was running into red-laser-tripped mines all through the section. Someone said he probably had 30 deaths in that part.
 
OK, here's my contribution:

Pop into his stream, he's wandering back and forth in a warehouse thing, not knowing what to do, as a gunship hovers around above and shoots.

For some reason believes he can't use rockets. Chat is telling him to use rockets. "What? You can use rockets? Chat is telling me to use rockets!"

There was an OBS error right as he shoots down the thing, apparently the last bit didn't record for Youtube.

During the warehouse segment someone complained about the lack of commentary, Phil complains, "What! Do you want me to sing?" Whines out a mocking version of that "Having a Wonderful Time" song. In the next area the music picks up, and he's singing:

"Half Life, Half Life, Half Life, muthafuck'n,
Half Life, Half Life, Half Life, muthafucka"

A guy get's shot in the ass. "He shot him in his ass! Ha ha ha!"

Back to singing:

"Half Life,
muthafucka kill that asshole, motherfuck'n asshole,
Half Life, Half Life, Half Life!"

If he wasn't streaming how would he have recorded this for YouTube? This OBS error is a semi-frequent occurrence. His play thru upload has to be absolutely tanked.

How hard is it to get OBS to work right? I use it for my streams/uploads and have never had the issues he has had.

Oh and the singing was god awful, but his true and honest fans were all hoping that it would turn into a new remix.

This, seriously, Barney literally throws it at your fucking head, while saying that's what he's doing! How deliberately stupid do you have to be not to get it, considering you automatically catch it anyway?

I was only watching for about six minutes. When I left he was at a platforming section with electrified water. He had to jump from one barnacle thing's tongue to the next.

He did have a crowbar at that point.

For what it's worth it's episode 1. I forget how you get the crowbar in that.

That being said, why he loves achievements so much is beyond me.

He never challenges himself but suddenly he insists on doing a no guns run? Weird.

Go watch his Dead Space 2 play through. He screamed like a potato whenever he unlocked an achievement. "CHEEVMUNT!!!" :autism:
