I'm happy The Shape of Water won Best Picture. I figured it had the best shot since even Tumblr mostly likes it. Three Billboards got some love in the acting categories too at least.

Overall, mostly fine with all the winners. Everything in between was cringy and nearly unwatchable.

Really glad "Dear Basketball" one for best short film. I think Kobe Bryant is now the only athlete where if you walk into his trophy room, you will see 5 NBA championship rings, MVP awards, and an Oscar all together.

Spoiler: I'm still biased though

I'm very biased towards "Dear Basketball" because I have to admit, I'm been a Lakers fan my entire life and I grew up watching Kobe Bryant being the all star that he was on the court. I usually can't stand inspirational sports films because of how schmaltzy and trite they can be , but when I watched this short film on TV during Kobe's number retirement ceremony, I'd be lying if I said it didn't pull on my heart strings a little. I have to give the film credit where credit is due. It gave me feels for a fucking athlete of all people.

This year's Oscars was definitely better than last years. For three reasons:

1. I got to see Get Out lose.
2. Gary Oldman finally won the Oscar.
3. Way more saltiness than last year's because Get Out lost.

Did people really think Oscarssowhite would work? Wow.

My only disappointment is that Three Billboards didn't win just for the salt it would generate, but The Shape of Water is definitely a worthy film IMO. I am extremely happy for the acting wins that the latter got though and, as someone who's followed his career since his Comedy Central days, Jordan Peele winning Best Original Screenplay for Get Out.

Yeah I actually can't be mad at any of the wins, they were all worthy.
Shape Of Water was ace
Guillermo Del Toro did make an astounding film
Gary Oldman was great as Churchill (even if I think James Franco or Michael Shannon should at least have been nominated)
Frances McDormand was not my first choice (Sally Hawkins) but she still did a good job, shame her speech was shit and pretty much guarantees she'll never work again, while possibly jeapordising the careers of many young thespians who take her poor advice to heart.
Sam Rockwell was probably the best part about Three Billboards, so definitely.
I'd have rather Laurie Metcalfe won in Best Supporting Actress purely to see the salt when Big Bang Theory says it has an Oscar Winner as a recurring guest star but Allison Janney is also acceptable.

Loving the Get Out salt though. Like that was nominated for any other reason than to shut #OscarsSoWhite up (as with Denzel!) Same with the Daniel Kaluuya loss. You know a lot of people were bringing up the false allegations Gary Oldman's crazy ex-wife lied about?

Or how a group of filmmakers and actors are more into a visually rich and rather beautiful movie, or a well acted morally grey issue film, rather than a contemporary horror flick
