If he's REALLY in desperate need of money, to the point he could lose everything, he HAS to take risks. Not every risk, but at least the ones which won't hurt the business itself. The only thing that gets hurt are his feelings and the risk is just a minor inconvenience, but somehow good enough to shrug off new exposure at the well known fucking Drunken Peasants. A place to widen his audience and to show the world that he's really a cool guy to have fun with, a place to prove "them" wrong, widen the audience, get new fans and contributors; but no they will all turn out to be trolls and detractors (as if they aren't already).
Maybe this would be the only time when I would believe a depression-story because this lack of self-confidence and hermiting speaks volumes (Still not a good excuse, because excuses don't pay your bills).

Trolls in chat will fuck up everything? No HE will do it and maybe he knows it, he knows he can't control himself sometimes (and it's your fault for not understanding, with money). The chat is the problem? The fucking chat which is not even imbeded in the stream or part of the show? A chat which probably goes so fast you can't even read it?! Not even donations are displayed in the stream to Slander him!
And btw people are ALWAYS shittalking to him, at least by his own standards, even in his own chat. He allows troll donations and displays troll names in his shekel bar. Why does he assume a wider audience with some new trolls would be bad?! You can't even fuck this puss, because it already fucked itself over.

And he really wonders why people don't take his problems seriously. It's stuff like this. He just wants to stay lazy and protect his fragile ego. A text book loser.

There has to be an upper limit of what his real fans can tolerate. Because he moans and wants money but does absolutely nothing to change his situation. He does nothing, as little as the effort would be or as easily handed over it is.

Disclaimer: Of course he could ask the DPs if they shut down chat, but this would make him look bad from the very start.

I think the truest thing you said is Dave knows even if things went well, eventually he'd fuck it up. He has to know that his personality is toxic, and not in a "haha that guys such a dick" way. He knows best case scenario is he goes in, makes himself look good and gains a percentage of the audience to come over, check him out and maybe even sub to him. How long after that would it be before he just reverts back to "idiots in the chat getting banned" mode? I doubt it'd be an hour into his first pre-stream afterwards.

Even if he doesn't his mods would fuck him over, he chooses the biggest payers, not the "truest fans" and he can't pick friends to help him out. So even if he didn't ban everyone he managed to convert into viewers/subs, his mods most likely would. He moves the goalposts for what warrants a ban that even the mods who try to be fair don't know if they should or shouldn't ban someone. His entire community is built around mocking and banning viewers indiscriminately that any newcomer doesn't stand a chance. You have to know every detractor meme and then not even reference them to even stick around for a week.

Basically, even if he did the podcast and got new viewers, they wouldn't last long. Simply because that's how his channel works. You either suck his dick and throw pennies at him to earn the right to talk in chat or you get banned. Most normal won't do that, not when there's plenty of better places just a click away.

now that i think of it more, i can't believe that DSP's ego is so big
that he thinks no matter what he does he will make people hate him
but
never consider that it's his fault, that it's because he's a toxic asshole

i'm sure deep down he thinks he's a persecuted genius
i'm sure everytime he turns on TV and there's something about racism or homophobia or any group being shunned or killed he thinks to himself "ITS JUST LIKE ME AND TERVIN!!"
maybe if he hears glass breaking he freaks out screaming "ITS CHRIS-TALL-NAGHT DOOD! THEYRE COMING TO GET ME!" (he already thinks detractors are going to break in and kill him)

Random thought.

I'm not sure how big the likelihood of people talking about Khet in a podcast about Phil would be, maybe there is a small chance, maybe there is none. But Phil with his infinite wisdom is essentially being "The Boy Who Cried Streisand", and I only call it that because it sounds fitting when we talk about one of the biggest liars on the internet. NOW he would enable trolls to talk about Khet the moment he sets foot in a public space because NOW everyone knows this would trigger him, he literally boosted the probability of being trolled this way. Of course it won't matter if this is just an excuse but for fucks sake, I know I would start talking about Khet when I never even considered that, just to annoy him.

You don't explain to the world how to annoy you. You don't lay open your weaknesses. It opens the gate to get trolled. Which reminds me. Hasn't he said a while ago trolls should step up their game because what "we" do is old, quote: "Ack ack ack I can't believe I have to explain to you how to troll", in regards to THE GOUT which is of course totally gone and totally not triggering to him, absolutely not, noooo? You don't make it better Phil, this is actually quite a big mistake dude, what a horrible idea to state people should invent better ways to troll you.
People keep on when they notice it angers you, it's not about old news, it still works. He feeds the trolls, they bite. This happens more rarely to people who actually have a backbone.
