Meanwhile four days passed, and Farms are still not blocked. Either RKN is on quarantine, or Null did something to hide the content. The image itself is still accessible from Russian IPs, so it's more obscure type of hiding, if there is one.

These people are trying to cope with those memories by overusing that little power that they managed to get. We call that "watchman's syndrome".

They will not block anything. Kiwifarms.net is using cloudflare. Banning this single HTTPS URL means blocking the entire cloudflare IP address with hundreds of another websites. The last time they made a thing this level of stupidity was during the great war with Telegram, when they broke the half of the internet for russian users.

They are actually doing that. Depending on ISP, either the Cloudflare's IP address (with varying success) are blocked, or DPI used to filter TLS sessions by SNI, or both. Most of them are going the second way, though. RKN also checks sites IPs for updates and adds the new IPs to blocklist (which ensued some hilarity when admins of blocked resources started adding Google, Yandex, VK, government resources and other big important site IPs to their DNS records).
Take a look at Roscomsvoboda's registry dump, every site with IPs starting with 2606:4700 or 104.2X uses Cloudflare, and it never stopped them form being blocked.

Like I said before, RKN won't ban cloudflare's IP to block one miserable image.
They are not so stupid or straightforward as you might think. They once banned 2019.vote with some silly court order in a record-breaking time, but still can't do anything with its mirror on votesmart.appspot.com without breaking half of google's services.

As far as I remember, there are three type of entries: URL, domain and IP, and in first two cases ISPs aren't obliged to do a full IP-based blocks, instead relying on DPI filtering, DNS forging and so. If this is the case, nothing stops you from visiting not yet blocked sites accessible at the same IP address, since filtering will be done by HTTP headers or SNI headers in TLS, and/or in some cases DNS queries. eSNI might help, but big providers also started filtering TLS handshakes with no visible SNI header.

You sure? I remember some Ivans mentioning that using Cloudflare as DDOS protection for a Russian website is fucking stupid because Cloudflare gets blocked. It's not like Russia is ever pearl clutching over bystanders getting caught in the crossfire.

I'm sure. RKN is more careful these days.

Slavs don't care much about freedom of speech, but breaking up the internet makes them unhappy, and Putin doesn't like public protests at all.

Cloudflare's IPs were blocked because of this holy war with telegram. They released these IPs few months ago, so Cloudflare is usable again for russian websites.
