Thoughts?
Snubs?

No Portrait de la jeune fille en feu? It should at least have gotten a nomination for the cinematography.

I'm really happy to see Parasite received six nominations though

France can only submit one movie for the International Film award and they went with Les Miserable which is fine, but I preferred Portrait. At least The Lighthouse got in for cinematography though the Deakins war movie is going to win it.

Parasite deserves it. Bong will win director.

Rian Johnson will win Best Screenplay for Knives Out, guarantee it. I will be pleasantly surprised if Parasite or Marriage Story takes it.

I'm hoping that Best Picture either goes to Joker or The Irishman, although I'm not holding my breath.

The critics had a shitfit about Joker and Scorsese has typically not gotten along with The Academy (The Departed won Best Picture as a way to shut him up) and now that Martin Scorsese dared to speak negatively of Marvel, Woke Twitter now hates him and even Bob Iger attacked him publicly.

But if Joker or The Irishman somehow beat the odds and win Best Picture, I will be a very happy man. The fact that Joker even got nominated at all is legit surprising, considering how notoriously corrupt and broken the Academy Awards are.

Still got a few movies I got to watch before I gave my thoughts on the bigger category, however nice to see animation noms aren't shit this year and full of disney shit.

Shame Monos did get any noms, should be up for best foreign film, sound mixing and cinematography.

Also best visual effects is a joke, Lion King looked bad in motion and environments looked pretty bad as well.
The Irishman cgi faces weren't great, they still looked older than they were meant to be and it has cases of floating heads and some weird face movements.
Avengers Endgame has some great cgi and some downright awful, Thaons looked great but cgi for someone like Spiderman is shocking bad.

Yeah, people are already bitching that Gertwig wasn't nominated for Little Women and Lupita didn't get nominated for Us. I understand the former, that sucks, but it's crazy that there are people out here who think Us was a particularly great movie. And then there's all the people mad that fucking Jennifer Lopez wasn't nominated.

Gear up, folks, we're getting an #OscarSoWhite 2.0, especially if Joker sweeps. There's lots of blue checkmark black people posting very openly racist shit about white people if anyone wants to go salt mining.
