That was TV, so it would have to be given out at the Emmys.Shouldn't Adam Driver have won some kind of lifetime achievement for having been near Lena Dunham's vagina and stopped puking at some point?

Funny thing is is that Asian culture kinda has been better than western culture and kinda deserving of replacing it, but not for the reasons these assholes think, but because Asian culture is generally not "woke" like modern western culture is.
Honestly I believe Shape of Water won because they use preferential voting,, so I doubt it was most people's top choice however it was most people's second or third oneIt's good (and I very much enjoyed the art design and cinematography) but it's not BP material and wouldn't have won if the voters weren't using it to make a political statement.
Then again, the other nominations that year were pretty mediocre except for Dunkirk so it's not like some super-deserving movie got overlooked as a result.
Some of the best movies to win Best Animated Feature are non Disney. Rango is the most beautifully ugly movie ever and Into the Spiderverse deserved it based on its amazing visuals that truly looked like something I had never seen before. My only issue with Parasite winning two categorizes is that, in comparison, they treat the animation one sorta like a quarantine for that category. though that is mostly due to them being massive boomers when it comes to the medium
they would never give something like, say a Studio Ghibli film a chance at a nomination for BP due to the massive bias they have against the medium. So they put the animation in its own category just so it can get beaten by Disney shit.
Then again I don't really think the Oscars matter anymore in this day and age other then for publicity

You know that animated films can still be legible for best picture as both Up and Toy Story 3 were nominated for that category as well.Yep. After Beauty and the Beast ended up being nominated in 1991 they decided to segregate animated movies off in their own category so they'd never have to compete. It seems logical that the same rule would apply for Best International Picture as well, but I suppose logical consistency would get in the way of performative wokeness.

Still you act like animated film category was made to make sure no animated film could get nominated for Best Picture despite that not being the case. Even if they didn’t win, animated films have shown to still have a chance of getting to best picture same with foreign films like Roma was nominated. You say that Parasite won for woke points even though the movie itself is not “woke” and the director didn’t use his acceptance time to grandstand about current hot button political takes. That's true, I remember them winning Best Picture those years and...oh wait, they didn't. Like they ever would have, since the Academy has an official ghetto for them.

One was The Dark Knight. The other was WALL-E.
Ricky Gervais is warning celebrities against political speeches after a number of them spoke out at the Oscars over the weekend, saying that the comments to "everyday, hard working people" at Hollywood awards shows usually backfire.
"I have nothing against the most famous people in the world using their privileged, global platform to tell the world what they believe," the comedian and five-time Golden Globes host tweeted Monday, a day after the 92nd annual Academy Awards.
"I even agree with most of it," Gervais said to his more than 14 million followers. "I just tried to warn them that when they lecture everyday, hard working people, it has the opposite effect."

"The internet killed the Hollywood star..." to paraphrase the Buggles song.
"The SJW's are so triggered that a movie like Joker will win best picture.... These SJW's are pushing wokeness by having a non American film win and now I'm triggered"
