It’s a really well-written letter and I appreciate that it is a request and not a veiled demand, but nah. No way. If this was six months later (or a year or more) and we had absolutely no other information, I might be more sympathetic. I would still think she brought a lot of this on herself, but I would be a lot more sympathetic.

But this letter was dated August 31, which was less than a month after her identity was even discovered. And she was still trying to out-troll the situation for at least another week, after the fact. So forgive me if I don’t think that in the roughly two weeks since she stopped trying to manipulate the situation and when she retained legal counsel, she had a change in heart and “just wanted to put the whole thing behind her.”

But honestly, even if the Farms did deindex her, this stuff isn’t going to go away. BellaJanke.com, IsabellaJanke.com, and other domains exist. ICANN can be shitty, but there is plenty of established caselaw to keep those domains up, at least until the people who bought them get tired of paying renewal fees. And that's before you get to the YouTube stuff.

If I were her lawyer, I would suggest she just start using her mom's name as her professional name and be done with it.

If Bella has information that is supposed to make her more-sympathetic to Null, then it's also information that she should feel comfortable putting out publicly. I guess she's afraid it'll fail and she'll just get shit on even harder, and having a lawyer send this sort of message is a "safer" way to minimize the risk of stirring shit up again. Which may be correct.

If Bella wants some sort of redemption that's something she'll have to earn, probably after laying low for a some number of years and trying to avoid getting kicked out of school in the medium term. Maybe change her name. But yeah the rate of ILJ leaks has declined a lot and people will stop paying attention to her... but she's probably fucked for this year, at least, and she should just accept that.

Not at all. This is standard lawyer SOP. “We'll give you additional context, but you need to sign an NDA and also cease discussion/delete stuff.” You usually see it with lawyers trying to get journalists or publishers to remove stuff. It rarely works for higher profile stuff, but you'd be surprised by how often it can be successful for smaller things.

And yes, an appeal to sympathy by suggesting there are other issues at play is absolutely a common tactic. Again, that works more than you might expect, because most people don't want to hurt others and don’t delight in seeing others suffer. Wrong tactic for this site, but it could be compelling in a different context.

If I were him, I would have tried to lean on her age more than purported mental health issues, especially given how callous and cruel Bella was towards others with mental illness, both those related and wholly unrelated to Chris, in her Discord. Her age/immaturity is a lot more sympathetic than trying to claim that your client is a relentless bully and edgelord because she's on antidepressants or something.

The request was pretty reasonable and we all know this stuff has been double-triple-archived all over the place- so here, have a pity vote. Not a chance it'll actually get taken down though. She antagonized WAY too many people.
 
I believe people should be able to redeem themselves and get to escape past mistakes (if they do better). But those things take time.
Considering the nature of the shit she's done and wanted to do, she needs to do some serious work to be better. Come back in a few years of behaving with a polite request.
