isn't that kind of a risky move to take? if you're a platform that doesn't moderate every single piece of content before its officially published, then what happens when something illegal is published? it doesn't fall under dmca or user made content in the law, so if some guy uploaded a super bitcrushed mp4 of a popular movie, the publishing company could have grounds to sue, since they outright said "we legally own everything published on our platform" while making money off it. that's not even getting into the criminal law section, like what if actual rape or revenge porn was posted?

If the law actually worked for the people they might. Most DMCA takedown notices are fraudulent and that should award automatic damages for the plaintiff. Instead it's extremely rare for any fraudulent claim to get damages awarded.
