2023 Security Check-up Reminder

yeah if you get compromised to the point where someone is reading your keystrokes from inside your system then you're just completely boned no matter what other security measures you have in place
Behold my cryptodongle where I have to press a physical pad to authorize an action with the keys it holds.

But then I have to weigh the likelihood of my computer becoming that compromised versus the likelihood of me losing such a device because I'm functionally retarded like 80% of the time.
Just have 2 and the keys in a bunker or safe somewhere.
>he doesn't have a succession of trained pigeons relaying his keystrokes to an air gapped system in a secure bunker
ngmi
Nothings keeps your from printing your private keys on paper in OCR-A/B and sending it away through pigeon mail.

Just use Tor to bypass everything, Its what I use, even its not always reliable it saves and doesn't compromise any personal information. Also imao getting hacked in Minecraft.

if your system is compromised to the point that malware is reading your keyboard, then there's nothing stopping the malware from also reading whatever usb authenticator you plug into your machine
it can actually work even in that situation, they get at most "one time" access and you know somethings up because you don't get access

but it's all too finicky

You would think someone who runs a fucking WEBSITE would have the knowledge to avoid the most basic fucking mistakes. The advice given to the tech illiterate by companies doing the bare minimum to instil cyber security into their workforce would have prevented this.

ALSO - given the number of platforms it is possible to send DMs to people on, Twitter, Discord, why in the fuck would you choose to have these types of conversations on CHUDBUDS, a ratchet ass fedi site. It's not like these people aren't also conspiring on Discord, lets be fucking real here.

Nothing is ever invulnerable. The point is that a reputable password manager allows a much higher level of security at a practical level of convenience compared to what 99% of Internet users are doing.
Yes indeed on a practical level for most, given that there are likely people registered here and other places with work or .edu or anything Gmail or Outlook in their own name (unless Noool of Kyiv has something excluding the use of those email services which would be humane).

They wrote "[...]and I foolishly thought that I was capable of running it, learning linux and server administration along the way."
Turns out that's not a good thing when safety/security stuff is involved.
Ironically, maybe start with a Minecraft server or Teamspeak first...

PS: End2EndEncrypted DMs when? Every serious messenger uses it but people like to use their weird websites and social media more apparently.
