Xitterers claim a driver rams his car into a group of pedestrians in Mannheim, Germany.
The Mannheim police on Xitter is PSAing that, because of the police presence, downtown is to be avoided.

Police response in Mannheim: Car raced into crowd​

There is currently a large police response in Mannheim. The details are still unclear. According to first eyewitness reports, a black SUV drove into a crowd of people at high speed.

According to Apollo News, who learned from police insiders, there is at least one casualty, several people have been severely injured. The alleged perpetrator was armed and had been apprehended at the scene. Identity of the perp is still unclear.

Police and rescue response underway in southwestern German city​

Police in a statement warned of "traffic disruptions in the city center."

LONDON -- Law enforcement in Mannheim, Germany, on Monday announced "a police operation" in the center of the southwestern city.

"Police and rescue services are on their way," police said in a statement. "Further information is not yet available. In this context, there may be temporary traffic disruptions in the city center."
