Way off topic but a gentle reminder that if you remove gun suicides and gang on gang violence, the actual rate of gun crime in America is quite low. It goes from something like 14 per 100k to 5 per 100k. Like 50% of gun deaths are suicides alone.

The place I used to live the city outdoor range was $5/day for state residents and $10 for non-residents. I think it was $50/year for in-state or so.

The problem is that I think this is a sign of things to come. Other countries are concocting similar legislation in a near-global effort to crack down on free speech on the internet and elsewhere. I do not think that my country (The US) is far behind, either, as something called the SCREEN Act has just been introduced by Congress and it looks to be as stupid and restrictive as OFCOM if it passes.

I know that we technically have a Constitution, but it largely gets ignored by both parties with impunity when it really matters.

the missouri department of conservation runs multiple open, public gun ranges with no fees, no range officer, and provided targets and concrete shooting benches. they put them in national parks and managed land.

They have an entrenched belief that they can head off the inevitable boogaloo by simply gaslighting hard enough and ensuring tight enough message control. They believe, wholeheartedly, that people will do exactly what they want them to so long as they control all the messaging and framing. The thing is: Nudge theory does not work. It never has. The entire thing stems from the hard-left belief that seeing something gives it power, so by removing it from sight, you remove it from mind. They believe - legitimately - that if they had message controlled enough, if they had cracked down hard enough, and effectively made going against them illegal in everything but name, they would have won by default, since they will have removed all other options from your sight, and ergo the only way you could come to such despicable beliefs would be people showing you them online. This, obviously, is fucking retarded, and ironically, counter to oldschool lefty beliefs - which maintain that sunlight is the best disinfectant and the best way to counter extremism is that by letting it exist in the open where everyone's free to laugh and point at it.

I have theories:

Theory 1: They don't have a pre-written email to send out in the event of non-compliance, maybe hoping the speed in which they caught the site being accessible for corn-coloured teeth people myself would end up scaring Null into immediately fixing it. Since he didn't and they were preoccupied with opening up new "investigations" (lmao) the individual handling Kiwifarms just mentally checked out on Friday before their weekend off (as you do) and Null will hear from them on Monday. I'm predicting a deadline extension with a threat of opening an investigation afterwards. Bonus points if it passive aggressively mentions the site being in compliance prior.

Theory 2: A stink was raised regarding the OSA's potential impact on American freedom of speech recently, and assuming they've done the bare minimum of looking into [Null], they know he will fight it in court if they try to enforce a fine on him, and he already has people in the wings ready to do it pro bono (I think). A strongly worded deadline extension with threat of enforcement/investigation, an email apologising for the tone in the last email on the deadline which is then pushed further back, then it repeats those two same emails in perpetuity like not paying the Tv licence.

Theory 3: They sent the deadline email, were inundated with various NSFW sites not in compliance, and Kiwifarms fell through the cracks. Null will never hear from them again. (This is my favourite)
