And Trump's personal importance was such, that it would've wiped out the Reps as a functioning party for at least a full election cycle. Whereas the Dems might've had some empty suits to replace. There's a reason why academics aren't supposed to fuck around with students even after they're adults and that's because of the power imbalance. That's straight up rape. Also as Null said, it often causes serious self image issues. I have a friend who was in a similar situation and she got it into her head that her only value came from being a kid. Honestly raping a child, especially a teenager who's already in a whirlwind of hormones and emotions is the single worst crime humanly possible, worse than murder because the victim has to live with the scars. It's obvious you've never met anyone who lived through that it's horrific.

Then you have the guilt by association stuff which will bring down their proteges and successors too, basically it would render 90% of the elite political class unelectable, even total nobodies like said councilman could compete with the best of the beltway, and that's a disaster for the overclass in general because the best kompromat they might have on that councilman is that he once liked a furry post (not even porn) on a facebook page 15 years ago.
I dont think she will get pardoned, at best she gets parole or something in a few years if she behaves.
