2K release a "QoL update" for Bioshock 1/2 Remaster, Infinite that adds yet another launcher

I used to play XCOM 2 all the time until they put that launcher in there and broke mods. Just go fuck yourself 2K, I probably won't even bother pirating your shit anymore, getting money is right out.

I'm fat and gay and enjoyed Bioshock Infinite a lot
Agree. I was never a Bioshock 1 diehard or a "lol I never actually cared about or was impressed by Bioshock 1" tryhard so Inifinite was fine with me. Whatever gripes I had with the game is long forgotten.

"Why can I shoot 20 dudes and then go out into an area..." it's video game you dork, how can I accidentally run over 20 people on my way to a mission and have the main character say "oh no, I have never taken a life before".

People have been waking up to just how bad Infinite is, thankfully. Here's a few video essays/critiques that shit on the game, addressing BTS fuckery going on with Ken Levine and critiquing even smaller details than the notepad shitpost. For example, Burial at Sea fucking over the plot just so Elizabeth can be behind all major plot events for no reason + downgrading already established characters to "we stole from each other lul" and "I took the kid hostage so Elizabeth can become a stronger person :("

Don't forget the historical revisionism when the game talks about the Boxcar Rebellion and Tail of Tears while ignoring the literal months leading up to what happened. Hint: they weren't sitting around in a drum circle singing Kumbaya.

Or that Burial at Sea chose the wrong period of Art Deco for their recreation of Rapture

Fixes for bypassing the launcher have been discovered on day one - as simple as adding a launch option with a fake command or making a desktop shortcut. And thank fuck, because for some people the launcher wouldn't even download (leaving an empty folder with no. exe), locking them out of the game.

What the fuck, 2K?
I've had similar shit happen to me with other launchers, like Paradox's. Nothing quite like buying a game and supporting the developers and playing for years, only to one day wake up and find out that you can't even play the games you bought, all because the people in charge want a system to shove ads in your face, grab metrics from you for marketing, or have more control over things like modding. Fuck game devs and publishers who put this bloatware on people, it's like having to deal with GFWL all over again.

Well, the original versions aren't on Steam and don't really run very well on modern Windows. The remasters? Well, here's your fucking GFX options in the first game:

Enough said. Could you believe they were even worse on release? Check the attachment if you don't believe me. If you want to try it out, find a 360/PS3 version of the originals and play that because the remasters are a massive downgrade and they straight up run like shit on PC.
I replayed the original a year ago and it worked pretty well for me. After all, it's a game from late 00's, not 90's.

So they managed to somehow make Bioshock Infinite even worse somehow, never change 2K
Couldn't they add at least some accessibility options to allow people to skip the puzzles in Bioshock Infinite?

I'm surprised everyone hates Infinite so much but then again I loved it for weird autistic reasons like walking around looking at the shops and all the old-timey shit. I didn't care for the combat, it was just a vehicle for me to see more of the stage dressing.

It always confused me that Bioshock Infinite even had Bioshock in it's title. There's nothing connecting it to the original Bioshock games, even the location of the game is different. Yes I didn't play the garbage DLC to get the "full story" but that shouldn't be the only part that's like the first games in the series.
don't even remember infinite having much connection with the first 2 besides some lore, that really only happened with the DLC which rumor has it only does because levine was still butthurt about bioshock 2 (which he wasn't involved in) and some people consider the better one. given his "grabbing the ball and going home" ending because the can't run a studio for shit and 2k getting rightfully pissed at some point and canning his ass I wouldn't be surprised if it's true.

still enjoyed infinite for what it was, even with it's flaws. liz was a qt and great r34 material and a lot of effort went into the game itself with the old-timey cover songs etc.

There was a load of hype at the time but at this point, probably not. They are very average shooters. If you are asking from the perspective of someone who liked System Shock 2 then go play Prey 2017. Actually, if you even remotely like videogames go play Prey.
I tried, it was a slog, and so I looked the endings up on YouTube and wow, what a lovely tweest!

What the hell happened there? Like permanently, or?

There's a community-made Alternative Mod Launcher that I and a lot of people use that functions well, thankfully. I think there was some garbage bug when the 2K launcher rolled out where it would recognize the Steam Workshop mods you installed, but wouldn't be able to actually load them into the game when you fired it up. I'm not sure if it ever got fixed up (like Paradox fixing up their launcher's stupid handling of mods, eventually), but the AML still works fine, and lets you work around the 2K launcher. I use Irony Mod Manager for Paradox games for the same reason.

You'd think "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" would be something to live by for these software devs, but I'm willing to bet the higher-ups are always the ones pushing for more user control through these launchers, which is why they keep cropping up from publishers despite customer feelings on them ranging from "tolerated" to "loathed."

Yeah no clue if they fixed it either, switched to the community thing but 2K bein this fucking brazen kind of ruined the magic for me. Although I should actually find all my old shit and get it in working order again, game still good. Not looking forward to XCOM3 though with the way their shit is going but pirating would no doubt get me the superior version anyway should it come out and I'm still paying attention.

People found that bell puzzle hard? Really? Pokemon Ruby had puzzles that required you to read braille. By read braille, I mean read with your eyes. Ever tried reading braille on a screen? It doesn't make sense.

Oh boy, do you have a weekend? Right from the word go, the game treats you like a fucking idiot. You're given a note that is clearly a passcode of some kind. Instead of being able to enter the code, like a video game, you watch Booker enter the code for you in a cutscene. This continues into the baseball scene where, despite being a first-person shooter, the game turns the act of throwing a ball into a button prompt which only does a disservice to the game. I doubt as many people would have even realized they could have thrown the ball at the stage conductor if there wasn't a button prompt to do it. But the worst part, the absolute worst part, is how people huff this games farts and act like it's some groundbreaking achievement to say "racism is bad, m'kay" while having a population that never even calls a black person a "nigger". If you ever so much say point out a fault of the game, and there as many as you can so clearly see, inbredditors will say it's "2deep4u". All this isn't even getting into what could have been.

Fucking this, also their idea of difficulty was just giving enemies ridiculous amounts of fucking health so your assault rifle by the end was an anemic piece of shit thatd take a mag to kill an enemy
