3-D Print General - Feeding Printers Filament

Within minis I use green stuff or liquid green stuff to fill in gaps. It might be worth a shot with that as well. Overall it looks good.
All the prints I did for the Halo rifle and SpaceX rockets have been trashed. I figured out what was causing the shit quality (Cura was set to Ender 3 instead of Ender 3 Pro is apparently what it was). I don't know why that caused such a big difference. I have a new PEI magnetic bed, whole new hot end kit (similar as stock, just replaced due to a fuck up on my end) and a BLTouch on it now. I'm getting much better print quality. I've reprint and finished a SpaceX Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy and have about 5 or 6 prints left on the Halo Rifle. I'll post some new pics soon.

I still have one issue that, so far, has only appeared on the rocket prints. Tall, circular prints it starts getting... ribbed for lack of a better word, as it gets higher. Like something is wobbling as everything moves higher. I've tightened everything up so I don't know what's causing it. Might just be the whole desk is shaking a little as the weight moves higher. it's not major, just enough that you can feel it and see it under the right angles of light.

It could just be the weight of the entire thing, causing shifting and/or wobbles, as it's really tall and thin, I would assume.

Try out the Prusa Slicer. Its stock Ender settings are better thany any cura profile I have used

Looks like it only supports the Ender 3, not listed is the Ender 3 Pro. The shit quality issues I had with Cura were from using the Ender 3 profile, which I think must have been all that was listed when I started using it. Newest versions list the Pro, and when I use that, the quality is drastically better.

I'll give it a shot with sometime small when I get done with the stuff I'm printing now.

Resin master race represent!

Waiting for elegoo saturns to hit amazon. The Mars has been pretty great so far.
Its obviously the future until someone figures out cheap laser SLS or aluminium printing. The detail is amazing, the process is simple. I would get into it but I dont have space for a resin work area. Pics of prints close up would be appreciated

The workspace footprint is pretty small, assuming you're not super paranoid about chemicals and whatnot.

That quality is amazing. You could never do that with FFF machines. I was thinking about building a custom machine what used a monitor instead of a phone LCD. So you could rapidly manufacture polymer lowers and gun parts. Maybe do polymer reproductions and custom stuff for money

How does 3D printing of food work?

Well, the Indians have been working on the technology for a while, but the extruder is a bit inaccurate and the composition of the filament varies between batches.

You meant 3D printing with food, right?

Make sure you're not having z-axis binding from something dumb like clumped grease or a bur on the z-axis rod. Did you recalibrate your extrusion multiplyer and z-axis offset after replacing the hotend? Make sure your belts are also correctly tensioned and print at a slower speed to see if that has any bearing on the print.

I'm surprised to see this thread kinda dead, I thought there would be more people with printers here.
I got an ender 3 for chrimbus and am just waiting for it to arrive, do you guys have any cool, interesting, or useful prints you've saved over the years? I already got a few from thingiverse I plan on printing, but just wanted to see if there were any that may be harder to come by these days.

I use my printer for making parts. So I dont really print things for everyday use. But I like printing models from time to time. Tanks are cool

Nah, the subject isn't lulzy enough unless you start talking about printing dildos and get the jannies all titilated. (Back when 3D printers first started to become available to the general public, I made a bet that the most popular file of all time would be a printable bong. I have been disappoint.) AFAIK you can still download and print gun parts, those are the only thing I can think of that might be frowned upon.

I keep the .stl or .scad for everything I print, but the only sliced files I keep on the SD are my calibration (2) and temperature test files. That way I can re-run the same file when I change to a new filament, or change something else, and compare with the old instances. It really helps with figuring out what the hell is keeping you from success when something goes wrong.

Still waiting on Elegoo Saturn to hit Amazon. Then again, might hold off anyways. Got house stuff to do now :(
I want a large format SLA machine. I am impressed with the quality, but I am disappointed with the size of most machines. A while ago, someone tried making a really large format machine using a TV screen. The problem was the weight of the resin distorting the screen.

My main issue with that is the resolution would be crap depending on how big that TV screen gets.
