Christmas is about family, and most importantly for Chris, getting presents. He isn't getting a single present anymore, which explains the seasonal tard raging.

I'm sure that wont stop him from making his yearly lengthy Christmas list though. Or. . .will it?

Yup. When you're an adult, the American holiday season is about work. You have to buy candy, get a costume for your kid, maybe yourself, buy decorations and/or break them out of storage, take the kid trick-or-treating/pass candy out to the visitors, take everything down, get the house ready for Thanksgiving, cook a banquet, host the family, travel to see other family members, put up a tree, decorate again, buy presents, wrap them, keep them secret, send out Christmas cards, go to Christmas recitals, host the family again, go see other family members again, then take everything down and prepare for next year.

When you're a child, you get free stuff. That's it. A free costume, free candy, free food, free presents, and a chance to see family you might like hanging with. Everything is provided for you, no work involved (except for maybe you have to perform in the recital).

Once upon a time, Chris may have received the full benefit of a child's holiday experience, then one day poof - It was all gone. No Halloween parties, no family get-togethers, and certainly no shower of presents. All he might see these days is the behind-the-scenes of the holidays, stark, bleak, and devoid of magic. I agree that he may feel very much left out around this time of year, which may cause him to act out in bitterness and anger, and possibly even depression.

We may need to set up a CWCWatch Crisis Team to monitor the situation.

If he had any sense of other people, he might understand that he already got the same thing that any other fortunate kid gets - he got to have his childhood full of great holidays, with lots of fancy toys and decorations and food. If he had any sense of gratitude he might realize that he's not entitled to keep having it forever - he's a 34-year-old man now. Now is the time for him to give back to his family, and if he wants a fun christmas he could just take a little effort to set it up himself, rather than just expect it to be handed to him.
