Like, I bet not getting the PS4 from a fan probably shook his confidence in his ability to beg a big chunk of money from his audience all at once.
I concur. You can see the betrayal written all over his face in the "thanks for nothing" video.

It's a possibility, but in general, I agree with @Katolate. I don't think Chris gets steady enough donations to make that a huge risk. Chris is not a bold man. I could see him maybe doing it once one month, getting burned and being really broke until the next tugboat comes in, and then never doing it again.

He'll probably continue to beg as long as it brings in a trickle of donations/sales though.

Well, the unsteadiness of it is the problem. If he were capable of getting rent money any time he wanted, we wouldn't need to worry.

As you say, if he tries it and fails, he will probably realize it is a bad idea. But what if he tries it and it works? Donations seem inconceivable, but a launch of a new product usually leads to an uptick and sales.

It just strikes me that his business "successes" in the past couple years have led him to believe that he can print money whenever he wants, because sometimes he has been able to. And he continually gets frustrated when it doesn't work. Chris is quick to learn lessons that are in his interest and slow to learn painful ones.

I hope you are right. And I think you probably are. But it does seem like a risk.

@Marvin, does Chris understand how interest/interest accumulation work with regards to his credit purchases? Does he monitor his credit debt and control it, or is he generally unaware of his minimums creeping higher? I'm wondering if he's chomping at the bit to use his credit to fund stupid shit past his monthly tugboat allocation (and Barb is keeping him on a tight leash), or if he's aware of what constitutes a manageable debt for him, and buys on credit accordingly.

If the question is "can Chris successfully manage his life on his own," I can't see how the answer could be yes. He probably will for awhile, but he's only OK as long as everything goes as planned. Impulse control is going to get him in the end, whether that's spending more than he has for food, or whether it's chimping out in public and getting arrested. Who's going to bail him out figuratively and literally when Barb is dead?

That is going to be his downfall.

Chris hasn't seen evidence that he can reliably fish $500+ from his fans in a month. An uptick in sales means an extra $50-100, and even that's gradually over the course of a month. I'm not that concerned unless we get another dstecks, one who's willing to lead Chris along for awhile, instead of handing him a bunch of money all at once.

He can't accrue more debt than his credit limit. If you pay the minimums, you'll end up paying a lot more than what you borrowed, but it won't increase without limit.

Spending more than he can afford in a given month genuinely can't sink Chris. Even if Chris is completely retarded, a month later, the tugboat comes in, Chris pays his bills, and then everything is fine. The only way Chris can cause permanent damage to himself, financially, is if someone loans him more money.

No reputable places will do that. (Of course, the elephant in the room is if Chris goes to disreputable places.)

If Chris gets arrested and no one can bail him out, then he'll just sit in jail until he can see a judge. That's just uncomfortable for him.

Chris: Please donate to me while I'm surrounded by all of these expensive toys.............

I believe someone said its all over if Chris discovers payday loans

I thought he used his Lego sets to Frankenstein together Manchester High School and the rest of CWCville. In that case, sorting the pieces back into sets would take hours and hours.

That was the first thing I thought of- he can never resell his Lego sets, because you know it's all defiled, and the way he bastardizes sets into his mutant CWCville probably leaves parts painted on, glued, Crayola Fucking Model Magic-ed, and useless. He's far too lazy to sort, too.

I was thinking about this whole situation, and I have the feeling Barb lied to Chris- she has probably spun this into a larger threat in order to put a fire under him to pay for her mistakes so she doesn't have to. She could have easily told him "We're gonna lose the house if we don't get that money paid back"... and it not be the truth. He's certainly easy to sell lies to. This is the moron that is growing a uterus with sound files. That's why he looks so put upon and falling apart.

So let me get this straight. Chris has had nearly six years to continue his comic, gotten at least a thousand dollars worth in donations to do so, yet he still hasn't made any progress. Despite this and his poor reputation, he's begging for money under the impression that he doesn't have to give anything back in return?

He has no idea that he needs a good reputation to get donations out of sheer goodwill, does he?

Alternatively, he realizes that if people give him money based on promises, then he has to follow through on those promises or face criticism. No strings attached money is so much better.

It looks like Chris has been able to secure some more sales and donations since making this video. Looking in his Etsy sales page, he's recently had donations and also orders placed for Sonichu books #0-4, I imagine all from the same person.

I just hope it mentioned during the process that he was having issues with his supplier.

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how lovely his Benjamin Franklin tomgirl cosplay is? Forget Harriet Tubman, let's put CWC on the 100$ bill!
