This should become a Happenings thread because the shitshow of having the ADL asking for 4chan to be deplatformed is scary and bad news for us all who value the fee ability to say what you want online.
This is a literal distraction to think a website is responsible for a shooting like this in Buffalo, when in all reality, the shooter in question planned this out months before this took place.

What’s worse is that deplatforming this site is no more different than Null getting letters from Austrailia’s government telling him to take down videos that were archived by other users from different sites. The video of the shooter itself was uploaded to Twitch and they kept the video going until actual killing took place and took it down, before the content was archived.

TL;DR — this is a political agenda disguised as trying to “deplatform“ a site that is not even as popular as it was two decades ago.

Tbf, his involvement with /pol/ did play a big role in him doing the shooting in the first place.
Removing 4chan isn't going to solve the problem, but I don't blame the logic behind it.

i see where you're coming from, but pls god not another politisperg thread featured, you saw how autistic the featured thread about the shooter went. It went completely off the rails

Haven't they been doing that for years now? Plus Hiroshima Nagasaki is almost certainly an intelligence asset anyway since back in the 2ch days he was confirmed to be involved with shill efforts from the Japanese government.

And just like how 4chan isn't as popular as it was in part years, neither is the ADL. They aren't thought of as some sort of neutral fighter against hate speech like most Americans (falsely) thought of them as a decade ago, they've become far more blatantly partisan. Even my boomer parents laugh at them now.

I mean honestly politisperging was better when we didn't have the label for it. we didn't have a bunch of retards able to justify downvoting positions.

Why all of 4chan then? I get /pol/ is usually the lightning rod for hatred of 4chan but getting rid of the honeypot will make it harder for the feds to prevent one if the user is reatrd. The majority of 4chan/channel does not do it but talks about niche shit. (With the occasional troll / fail raid)
If the shooting was targeting black people why does the ADL care?

I doubt 4chan is going anywhere after so long and so much. I found this earlier, and I think this anon is on point:

Reminds me of what Metokur said about 4chan being a "quarantine site" if 4chan ever got fully nuked, even if just /pol/ got nuked, it would be an exodus to other websites like what happened with tumblr. then again watching twitter fags and /pol/niggers starting shitstorms on twitter and the like sounds funny as fuck.

I still don't think anyone's going to pull the plug soon. I also found Hiroshimoot tweeted this recently:

That doesn't strike me as "yeah, I'm done here". As you said, "quarantine site". Though if I had no other choice to remove at least one board and had the power to do so, I'd probably pick /b/ instead of /pol/. It's such a vastly different place from what it used to be that it's not even funny. /b/ needs to be put out of its misery.

People still use /b/? I thought it got turned into another porn board where people post their micrococks

Wakarimasen.moe, one of the biggest 4chan archival sites has inexplicably went down. In it's place now is a webpage with a gif of an anime girl crying along with the caption:
Even if we painstakingly piece together something lost, it doesn’t mean things will ever go back to how they were.
The reasoning is as of now unknown, however people are speculating it might be due to a takedown notice (possibly related to the Buffalo shooting) or a sudden mass influx of CP/CSAM spam.

/pol/ anon doesn't seem too torn up about it:
