Why do they annoy you? I don't have experience with /a/ outside of /dbs/ leaking to other boards
Well in my case, I just can't stand the pretension. Grown men with a bizarre superiority complex over watching 9 year old anime girls showing their panties instead of Naruto. The way they talk about how everything should be banned and unusable if it's not approved by the hivemind is antithetical to what 4chan is, it's honestly nuts that they ran the show uncontested for so long.

Do I sound bitter? Sorry, force of habit.

It's not just watching their approved anime either, if you dare to forget "an iconic scene" or a meme, they will claim you're a tourist and puff up their chest as if they won some sort of contest. Retarded shit, at least when you talk about a game or a movie on /v/ or /tv/ nobody is really gonna give you crap as long as you know what you're talking about or don't have some retarded opinion about it, but the moment you get one thing wrong when talking to an /a/ user, it's over. That varies user by user, of course, but at their worst they really are some of the most obnoxious asshats imaginable, and their altchan counterparts(forgot their bunker, I think it was kissu.moe or something) is so strict that they ban users for "not meeting their punctuation and grammar standards", this post would probably get me banned there.

I'm glad that in the recent years people have started giving them pushback, especially the soyteens on the sharty.

This is interesting since imageboards here in brazil had this tradition of banning users if they have shit grammar, of course the strictness depends on what ib you use

They don't care about grammar, they just use it as an excuse to ban anyone that isn't exactly like them, or "meeting their standards" as far as being a le epic original anime fag goes. Altchans are usually up their own ass, but kissu was really bad even for that standard. There is something to be said for mocking someone if they have poor grammar or are ESL but that shouldn't actually warrant a fucking ban unless their posts are spam.

Is there a group more despised than 4chan moderators?

Reddit mods and Jews.

Got really bad when Partap "Rapeape" Davis took over. Makes senses since he's half pajeet and pajeets ruin everything they touch or interact with.

I find, or found, /a/ to be a lot better than /tv/ or /v/ for discussion tbh.

But the tourist thing has become a bigger issue lately and I last posted in… 2018?
I could never stand /a/. Most of the board is just waifu retardation, softcore porn and the latest otaku slop of the month; it's not that different to /v/ other than the culture war not effecting anime as much as video games. /m/ is like the only anime related board where people actual talk and discuss their shows, but then all they talk about there is Gundam, Macross and Eva.

Nerds have a strange superiority over watching media others don't as if it replaces real hobbies or talents. They have nothing in life other than knowing some random pornographic OVA from the 90s.

For /v/ I found all of these elements worse for some reason. I think I found /a/ more chill and so I could overlook its laxity about content. /v/irgins would get up your ass about anything and everything so knowing they’re whacking it while posting was more dumbererer.

The lack of Original Content signaled the death knell of 4chan.

I remember seeing so many threads and screenshots that were so funny, that made me think there was something special on this website which could produce such hilarious and accurate satire. Spongebob console wars and game awards comes to mind. I even got inspired and made some OC about Samurai Jack season 5 which you may find if you look hard enough. That thread was lots of fun, and the jannies even joined in and started deleting posts from faggots trying to hit the image limit before I was done posting.

But the thing is, at the time I couldn't remember the last time I saw a proper OC thread like that. It seemed like one day all the creative people who weren't gooning or dooming 24/7 just disappeared. It may have been that they just stopped using the site as I did, but I don't know. From my experience, the new generation of posters never attempted to dethrone those legends of OC. Irony poisoning may have something to do with it. I was a pretty heavy user and I never really saw anything in the screenshot threads that was post 2014. Of course it's natural that the golden age would get the most screencaps and would be remembered with the most fondness, but still. I think there is an undeniable decline in overall quality, despite the rules specifically prohibiting complaints about the way 4chan is administered. Talk about a cringe reddit rule.

I don't have an insightful or erudite way to end this post so here's Calvin and Hobbes

When people switched from drawing their own MS paint comics to reusing popular drawings like coolface it got worse. Rage comics were reviled, but nothing sprang up in its place. /v/ draws boxart or /v/ingo also disappeared. The higher volume is threads is the killing blow. It prevents high quality threads from sticking around. Ragebait and coombait pushes it away. Why spend time making a /v/ingo if the thread just dies in 15 minutes? You can also make a "what did he mean by this" thread and get 500 replies. Threads don't even derail into something weird or interesting, they just devolve into shitflinging between two triggered schizos.

I unironically blame the inline addon for this. When normalfags got a taste of (You)s it broke their brain.

Or recycle the same threads over and over. Things like "TOTK is the worst Zelda game frfr" or "LOOK AT HOW SHITTY BANANZA IS!" and then post the same webm of a Bananium Gem inside a pipe that, if you look at the filenames in the archive, the former has been posted at least 1000 times and the latter has been posted at least 200 times.
Not to mention every variation of a sad Mario image that basically says "Nintendo is finished THIS TIME for sure!"

There was some kind of loss of critical mass. It could still be semi-usable even when 95% of it was garbage, but at a certain point OC just disappeared entirely. 4chan turned into at best ifunny and at worst 9gag.

Even /b/, always the utter worst board on the site, used to have a few at least funny threads up at a time. Last time I looked there was literally nothing but porn and other goonershit.

It seems like there are two kinds of boards left, utterly dead boards where threads stay up for weeks, or boards overrun with schizospam, blacked, slide threads to knock off any real thread that somehow gets posted, etc. etc. etc.

It's now almost exclusively garbage and if you do know a decent board/general/whatever you wouldn't mention it because it's just inviting schizos.
