You now need to send your email to 4chan for verification to post on /biz/. According to the mod, this is because of too many people shilling their shitcoins.

Honeypot is feeling extra sticky today, bros. Anyone else remember when captchas were added as a "temporary measure" to curb spam on the larger boards? This shit is going site wide, or at least larger-board-wide sooner or later, I'm positive. Is this really how 4chan dies?

I guess the most horrifying thought is to imagine the users putting up with it, rather than dispersing.

I would make a designated shitting board for /crypto/ where all the 'jeet bots can spam to their heart's content, and leave biz as iz.

So they remove the IP counter, which previously served as a tool to spot shills and samefags, only to implement another verification system because the shills are that prevalent. And everyone will just have to take the mods' word for it because no IP counter means they can't see it for themselves.

I don't know why they won't just pull the trigger on removing anonymity; they've wanted 4chan to have accounts for years now because they're jealous of Reddit making millions every year while their site stagnates and remains unprofitable. Plus it's not like the committee that runs the place has any qualms with disposing of 4chan traditions.

Really? It's just a problem now? /biz/ has been overrun by this shit for YEARS. I remember shit like bonfire, mithril, McDonalds coin, and all those fucking pokemon coins. The sad thing is that people actually fall for this shit.
All trying to be the next Doge. There will never be another Doge.

To where?
To some alt-chan that will inevitably be spammed with CP and banned from every host on the internet. Or if the host is resilient enough, the FBI will tell one of the edgy kids they're monitoring about the place so when they go for the high score at the school/synagogue/wherever the media can run all sorts of hitpieces about how the site is pure evil, Cloudflare and everyone else will "reluctantly" ban it, and some NGOs will fund a lawsuit against the site in some shithole like New York City which will win a multi-billion dollar judgement and force it to close down.

I looked that up but I couldn't find a website under that name.

How does this even make sense to do if the email gets immediately deleted from the server. Bad actors could just reuse a single email for as many accounts as they want since the site allegedly doesn't know what email makes what post, nor would it know the last time an email was used to create a 24h cookie to post. It wouldn't be possible to bad. The only thing this does is reduce the amount of good actors since it raises the bar for posting.

inb4: They only store a hash of your email which technically means that they purged your email from their servers. Of course someone could easily brute force such hashes since a lot of people would use emails that are publicly known.
How does 2ch deal with spammers?
5ch deals with it by banning VPNs and gaijin from the site. Due to spam attacks gaijin are blocked from even posting to the international boards. Of course there are human moderators that clean up spam too.

I think it's because they want to sell being able to bot on 4chan, this is a push to get rid of unauthorized bots and shills.
Probably the most realistic take. It's an election year and they want to make money by selling API access and registered emails to government agencies and politicians.
Tbh i'm not surprised this is happening. Considering crypto's shill/scam/bot problems. But i think it'll probably kill /biz/.

Perhaps the Sharty will now create a /biz/ board or we'll see a crypto focused altchan.
I suspect the FTC is involved. They've been cracking down on crypto recently, and probably aren't thrilled that perhaps the biggest crypto forum with shills that often promote shit like pump and dumps and other FTC trade violations. I bet 4chan was going to be sued, but decided to settle by requiring email registration for /biz/ so the FTC can build a better case for fraudsters and the IRS can get their taxes.
