If I was the owner of 4chan I would periodically do stuff like this just because I know people are going to come up with the most outlandish schizo theories. Seriously, every time the site goes down for a couple of hours or a board gets wiped people think that government secrets were leaked or that nukes just got launched.

One I'm seeing is that someone posted a picture of an alien and the feds shut it down. Now maybe I'm just cynical, but strangely I really don't think the government would care enough to censor alien stuff. Hell, if a UFO came down tomorrow the average guy would still be thinking about his or her rent.

But I am pushing the theory that some janny went crazy.

There would be no reason for glowies to delete a photo of a real alien posted to 4chan. 4chan users have been successfully psyop'ed into believing everything posted is "fake and gay." In fact, if you were someone who wanted to discredit a particular piece of information or evidence, 4chan would be an excellent place to post it before anyone could share it elsewhere.

People debate about this to this day (on Reddit).

It's speculated that those particular boards were just stored on the same physical server and that's why they all got fucked at once. If it was to cover something up, it would've been 100 times more likely that /pol/ would get wiped, and for that matter they'd either delete just the problematic post and leave all other threads/boards unaware of what happened instead of kicking the hornet's nest, or gone all the way and disabled posting too. Until you can tell me what kind of secret cat videos the glowies don't want you to see on /an/, your theories are fake and gay.

That's a years-old /x/ thing from a time the entire site froze for hours, maybe 2017 or 2018ish? Lots of fake posts surrounding the supposed alien rumor, and then another theory claiming that the alien nonsense is to cover up the real cause, which was something being posted about the movement of planes on 9/11 that exposed something or other about the official story... either way, nothing to do with the situation at hand.

modpost (a) regarding why some information is still temporarily available from nuked threads.

It was probably either a mod who went berserk and deleted a bunch of stuff, or a mod let his details get leaked / clicked a phishing link / etc
Similar things have happened with janitors. A /jp/ janitor called Anon of Columbia (AoC) went berserk and deleted the entire board twice (then was re-jannied by moot both times because he was the only person willing to actively janny multiple boards for 16hrs a day)
It's why janitors got limitations on what they can do and can now only delete x number of posts per hour and cannot ban people (only ban request)

Happening, some boards have had all the threads within their catalogs completely wiped/404'd. So far it apparently seems to have happened to /a/, /trash/, /mlp/, /b/, /d/, /lit/, /cm/, /co/, /biz/, /bant/, /fit/, /aco/, /h/, /3/, /diy/, /int/, /c/ and /an/. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.
Noooo my fucking thread.... i never pooost but this once and they wipe it. probably some dickhole spammimg CSAM :lossmanjack:

To your point:
On Thursday, Fairfax Media reported that Scerba allegedly accessed a secret document within Australia's Defence Intelligence Organisation, burned a copy of the sensitive dossier to a CD, smuggled it home, and then uploaded it to web cesspit 4chan.org along with the message “Julian Assange is my hero.”

An hour later the public post was deleted after other 4chan inhabitants, unsurprisingly, declared it "fake and gay,"
