While we're at it, did any of you also notice a sudden increase in "aggression" on 4chan during the past year? What I mean is that if you tried to effortpost on, say, a hobby board (like /g/ or /o/) there would always be 1 or 2 people who would enter the thread and act all pissed off, saying everyone's retarded and acting like you had killed their newborn child or something. Everyone always seemed irritable/on edge compared to even just a few years back.

It wasn't just typical "lol kys fag" shit, it almost felt weirdly personal. Artificial also to an extent. Forgive me if I sound schizo, I don't know how to put the feeling into words. Maybe I'm just retarded

I chalked that up to the sense of community dying on 4chan over the years. Like others have said, on /v/ if your thread wasn't political or rage bait it'd probably get slid off. The end result is everyone's pissed off and hates each other.

Most likely, yes. Indian, SEA, Nigerian, and other third world country scam groups have been increasingly flooding the Internet, and any site that allows crypto discussion with excessively lax or unprepared moderation is doomed. They're relentless because making a couple hundred bucks off of some dumb westerner is like a year's salary to them. 4chan jannies ignored the problem for too long then opted for the worst possible solution.

As someone who wasn't around at the time this kind of shit happened, I know everyone paints it as a big conspiracy given the way it was handled, but did it not occur to 4chan jannies to literally just plainly write something along the lines of "no one wants to deal with your nigger gamergate shit, go discuss it somewhere else and stop shitting up the threads"

That is presuming of course they didn't ban gamergate stuff because of some sort of a conspiracy. I'm inclined to believe they failed to do this because they're just terrible at moderating/jannying and communication in the first place.

There is a reason everyone hates the mods and jannies on that site including the people who want the site back.

I use /a/ and /tg/ which have very different issues. /a/ is they just don't care and allow generals and shit posts to be up 24/7 and will only take action when they are forced to so /a/ is just slowly dying because no one interacts across threads or are terrified of anything they like getting popular because then they won't have a useable thread.

/tg/ is traditional games which is tabletop and trading card games and that board is a mix of over moderation combined with zero moderation. If you are posting in a thread a janny or mod likes congrats you are getting banned or your posts deleted for the most innocuous shit possible. I have been banned so many times for making jokes or racist jokes and I'm not spamming nigger, but just obvious jokes. On the other hand if you try to report actual spam, trolling, or derailment in a thread they don't care about well too bad they will never clean it up no matter how many people report it.

Jannies and mods just seem to hate the boards they are in and want them to die or want the board to be exactly how they imagine it. There is no real communication and even if you go to irc to make them do something all you did was piss them off because now they have to pretend to care for one single time.

A combination of dogshit moderation, indifference from the admin, and a festering culture with a userbase that learned about 4chan from Youtube videos with Pepe thumbnails about how it's "the worst place on the internet" has led to 4chan being used as nothing but a communal toilet.
Why bother putting effort into anything you post there? Or do things for a community about a hobby or game when the janny will keep deleting it and scattering you?
