Browsed daily from 2008-2019ish. Then every so often. Hell I was actively posting minutes before the website went down.

One thing that always kept me to that website was seeing how specific board culture changed with time. Yeah times got annoying or outright bad but there was still the unfiltered discussion or content there. That's what I'll miss.

Shoutout to /a/, /m/, /vr/, /sp/, /tv/

Yeah instead you got your dear leader sock puppeting as a woman on an alt account and that's totally not troon behavior.
pics or didn't happen

edit2: nevermind it's fake, it's that femcel poster, i had no idea why you would think it's null, just because a user is a null bootlicker that doens't mean it's null himself

I actively despise our vtuber thread because of how many unironic simps it has.
I remember when on most imageboards and tangentially related communities, simps for egirls were ruthlessly mocked. Turns out all those egirls needed to do was put on an anime girl mask and they'd get those same people begging to send them money to fund the egirl and her boyfriend's vacations. The damage vtuberfags have done can't be overstated. They're easily the modern day bronies down to infesting fucking everywhere and being obnoxious, though trading the inherent weirdness of ponyshit for the complete lack of creativity idol culture perpetuates.

It is a shame we're denied seeing these people freak out on 4chan, but it is what it is.

Yeah cool, it could have been and should have been circumvented anyway. This isn't a 4channer wandering here and deciding "Oh I like it here better!" this is a bunch of fags that are here because they have nothing better else to do than shit up the site until theirs is back.
Basically invited the cockroaches into the house.

All I'm saying is KF shouldn't be a sanctuary city.
I get gatekeeping, but Kiwi and 4chan overlap has existed for ages anyway. Also just because we're discussing the issue: why is someone who joined in 2024 trying to lecture everybody on what kind of new users this site should permit? Do you at least have some old account here that you just forgot the login credentials for?

People who Use 4chan in 2025

1. People who cant move on, and cling to their younger days on 4chan as if its the greatest moment of their lives (exactly like those who keep bringing up their time in highschool even to their 40s and 50s)
2. Edgelords who think saying "Nigger" makes them cool, after spending most of their days surrounding themselves in censored environment i.e. Tumblr, Bluesky, Pre-musk Twitter
3. Tranny Pedophiles from Reddit
4. Tranny Pedophiles banned by Reddit
5. Pedophiles
6. Glowies
7. People who unironically use 4chan in 2025

needless to say, Why use 4chan in 2025?

Did any of you guys still go on 4chan? I started going on like 2010 but I just ended up only really using /vr/ to talk about old games.
you used it correctly by having a smaller home board, the way to enjoy modern 4chan that I found is you skim through the big boards, /pol/ /v/ /a/ /tv/ /int/ whichever you're into to shitpost. While also having a small board you effort post in. That way you can have the best of both worlds. Fast paced fun posting and actual discussion.

The main issue is that people forgot what it's like to have FUN. 90% of the internet (and boards) is now an unironic shitflinging contest for that smug self satisfaction that you were right and that other person is wrong, and dying on that hill. Paired with the ipad generation having easy access to dopamine hits with little to no effort leads to complete stagnation of OC, which only comes around nowadays if people suck the creator off. People need to learn that having FUN requires CREATION without the bullshit "me take for me to give." Frankly, it's hard to find people having fun these days, but every now and then I see them passing through and it warms my heart.
Yea pretty much. It's happened in lolcows too. Instead of looking for amusing shit like autistic people spazzing out and taking genuine joy in their ms paint drawings, it all 3 hour documentaries about how some youtuber is a sexual deviant, or activiely trying to kill the content as fast as possible by getting the amusing retard off the internet. Internet users are just bitter old faggots now.

Can I just say its utterly insane that /tg/ had so many mods when it was such a fucking slow board.
/btg/ was often one of the most cancerous shitholes on that board, despite having posters working to develop high quality content like battle reports and scenario packs. Battletech is dead, long live Battletech, hold the butte.

also i guarantee that 100% of thunderdome posters used /pol/, adding a few more /pol/ retards wont change much.
I havent been on /pol/ in a decade... the website was full of uberliberal fags.
What kind of retard lefty allows BBC posting outside of animal boards?

/pol/ was probably scary because presidential elections generally don't receive much participation from young people. Meanwhile, Donald Trump (in some way her campaign couldn't figure out) was drumming up support from a demographic that's typically checked out of politics and they were making OC spread across social media to make him seem like the cooler candidate.
/pol/ in the year or so prior to the 2016 election had amazing energy. It's been downhill since. The good old days were only nine years ago - makes me feel old. And I'll miss /t/.

personally I think new users is good. the retards will be banned or laughed off the site (or ideally become content) and many of the off-topic sections of the forum really need more activity which is what many of the 'cuck rapefugees will be here for.

New users are good. But it's like unregulated immigration for every good new user you got 10 other shitty ones.
And yeah, you're right, it'll blow over and the 10 shitty ones won't be able to hack not being anonymous here pretty sure the idea of neg rates are sending a lot of them into panic attacks already.

The funny thing is that /mlp/ is an excellent case study in this. At some point in 2021 all original ideas just fell off a cliff and everything became a game of spamming the word "mare", two or three background characters and then everything new needs to be "mare is x" or "mare(associated object/characteristic)" with anything actually new derided as being forced and unwelcome. It's like something with the 2020 election just finally purged the last of the true creatives from the site overall signaling the true endpoint.

Not a refugee, just a regular lurker and didn't feel compelled to make an account until this happening.

This whole event feels like the logical conclusion to a site like 4chan. I was a regular user from 2013 to sometime around late 2021. The writing was on the wall for me by the time of GG when it felt like the site had entered an unrecoverable death spiral. It was only accelerated by the influx of 2016 election tourists and fever-pitch culture war arguments began infesting every single board. I largely stuck to the hobbyist boards like /ck/ and /ic/ and even then niggerspam and other autism was inescapable.

Dogshit moderation didn't help, but I don't think its what killed the site. Imo the rot became terminal somewhere around 2017. The influx of obnoxious retards seemingly chased out all the cool users almost overnight, everything that wasn't irony-poisoned low effort shitposting was met with derision. Earnest discussion was almost all but obliterated because all these extremely insecure wanna-be underage shitstains feared being called a redditor.

The fact the site was brought down by a gaggle of /qa/ chimps bitter about their favorite board being taken away is truly poetic irony. This is the culture the jannies allowed to fester for the longest time, but by the time they tried to do anything about it, the site gets assraped and the staff get doxxed. Refugees can bitch and moan, but pisspoor security and incompetence by the staff should be expected when the entire culture of the site can be summed up as "low effort".

Why the fuck is twitter so boring? I need my fix and twitter just sucks cock, 99% of the posts are just botslop
Twitter is monetized. People can get paid for tweeting now which has attracted tons of engagement farming and bot activity. Elon also effectively pays people for sucking up to him because his posts are artificially boosted and his retweet can drive massive views to your content. Yeah there are people who just use it for chatting but you always have these people mixed in.

Imageboards are even worse though because these same engagement farmers use them for free advertising. If 4chan comes back it needs an AI filter that autobans twitter screenshots. TBH 4chan needs so many things to actually be good. All of the good imageboards had engaged and active leadership, even if the leaders were mostly faggots. But the faggotry was usually open and accessible, and not hidden in the groomcord or private IRC channels. The transition to this style of absent leadership at 4chan had already began by the time moot was leaving and Hiro just let it continue that way.
