Seeing as how the President Trump /pol/ thread is still up, it certainly puts Trumpists as one of the worst fucking things to happen to the site. It's stain has reached so far in /pol/ has become banworthy for the rest of the site.

Look I know you are an active participant there but it’s pretty pathetic to still call it president Trump general after he lost. Then again Trump doesn’t really do dignified loss or grace well so maybe they’re just copying their idol.

No I am not a participant, but Trump is still a President; and even ignoring the thread’s title Trump is still an active participant in ongoing politics. There is no reason for the general to be moved to /bant/ or made verboten altogether. It is about politics and/or current events. End of story.

I know it’s not going go anywhere. That’s why trumpers are one of the worst stains on the Chans. It makes the bronies seem like small fry. In fact sometimes it feels like they caused enough ruckus to get their own board, but didn’t. Mentioning orange man in almost any other board will get you ridiculed, more than a pony ever did.

I wish. Trumpers have infected pol, everyone knows that and only because other boards told them to go away are they kept at bay. Pol was never a very good board, but I can remember it being way more interesting pre 2016.

Trump definitely ruined whatever was left of the old 4chan, it’s ironic because it’s probably going to get them into the history books but it destroyed what made it have that power to influence an election in the first place, like Icarus flying too close to the sun.
Not that there was much left even before Trump came along, the last time I really remember 4chan feeling like it did in the 2000s was 2011, maybe 2012, so we’re talking a decade or close to it since it in anyway resembled what it was in the 2000s.
Even before Trump came down that escalator in 2015, 4chan was already mostly people sperging about politics by that point.
I think 2000s 4chan is going to go down in history as to the 2000s what Studio 54 was to the 1970s, this notorious, wild and crazy place that felt beautifully free and most importantly fun, which is what 4chan lacks today, it’s just not really any fun anymore.
I still think a lot about memories of what that site was back in the 2000s and wish I could somehow revisit it.
I was there for example right when Chocolate Rain first achieved memedom, it probably wasn’t the very first thread but it was right at the start, someone on /v/ presented it as a Duckroll (this was before Rickroll even) as “hey check out my Super Mario Bros speed run”, linked to a YouTube video and boom, there was Tay Zonday and his weird fucking video and song, this was before most people really became aware of it and I knew right off the bat it was going to be legendary.
What’s funny today is how Proto-Woke the lyrics are, didn’t he write it while he was in college and getting his head filled with black grievance propaganda even back then?
