Removing the IP counter is basically them telling you to stop noticing things. Also I am convinced that the 60 sec wait and black dot captcha are an ineffective attempt to combat bots, just googling captcha solver yields a user script that fills it out for you.
The 60 sec shit is there to fuck with people who evade by tapping airplane mode on and off. It also makes it a fucking pain to try and find a VPN node that isn't blocked.

I don’t know what’s happening in the back end but it appears to be device specific. I get the 60s wait and new black dot captcha on my PC and phone, but I still have the old captchas and no 60s wait on my tablet.

Is the 60 second thing there for people with the Pass too? If not, it's probably just another way to try to force people to buy it.

Anons on /g/ have found that a function to to identify samefagging was added. It has allegedly already been patched out

Not even reading the rest of that, this is just a rerun of an ancient meme to fuck with newfags. Can't find the original (trust me I looked, because it's been forgotten for long enough that retards will fall for it again) but it was a screenshot with a similar amount of code, and because it was in an image you'd have to type it manually instead of copy/pasting (making it even more funny when someone fell for it because they wasted their time). It was just titled "samefag detector" and you were instructed to put it into the body of your message while also quoting the two posts you wanted to compare (that way people would see it and be able to laugh at you), and it would supposedly open a little window that told you if they were the same IP or not.

Edit: basically like a funnier version of pic related

Fuck posts like these with their weird mix of being over-dramatic but also extremely forced way of sounding "irreverent" when a discussion happens. "My brain is tingling", "I'm having a fever dream oh my science", "HOLY HECKERINO IM GOING LE CRAZY", it reads like how the glowniggers posted on 8chan during the Christchurch shootings, someone trying to sound like they fit in with his fellow channers.

Rate me autistic if you must, but this kind of posting sticks out like a sore thumb. Maybe it isn't a glownigger (and just a tranny trying to sound more emotional than they should) but it's just a bunch of meaningless fluff larding up what is just supposed to say "hey this is weird why does this do that"?

I can prove this to be true, because people more often now will try to post the 'samefag code' every time I've posted it. It's also a great thread derailer as anons will argue if this was ever real or not.

Thanks, I was looking all over for it
I took the liberty of making an "updated" version to fool even more gullible retards
Notable additions:
- changing what they're supposed to enter, so if they already fell for the old one they'll think "oh I just did it wrong, I'll just try it again with the new method and it'll surely work this time!"
- telling them "it doesn't always work the first time" so that they keep trying over and over without immediately realizing they were fooled
- telling them to put some made-up technobabble in the name field, so you'll be able to spot people who fell for it and forgot to erase the name afterwards when they post elsewhere
- adding some random bits of explanation regarding the new admin, domain transfer, etc. to make it seem more authentic

Have fun anons

Lol I guess I fell for it. Some in the thread were speculating about a site-wide ID tag rollout, which made the existence seem plausible to me that it was there, just hidden.

I feel like that + flags would've been a no-brainer site-wide once they were introduced on /int/ and /pol/. There needs to be, at minimum, thread IDs site-wide.

I am not a political agitator or schizo screaming about feds or shills, but I still liked the IP counter because it offered a good idea of how many people actually interacted in a long and/or old thread. For example, the model train general (RIP) on /n/ could run for a year with 200+ posts and just a tiny amount of IPs, which indicated how few people actually posted there despite the high post count.

I remember being very surprised in 2014 (when the counter got added) by just how low the number of unique posters in long threads could be, escpecially on slow boards. The anonymous nature of chans can create the fake illusion of a much larger community.

It keeps track on how many people are actually in the thread
