After 16 YEARS of the internet hate machine, email verification is going to kill 4chan. It's antithetical to board culture, its a way of targeting a user base for phishing and spam (Hiroshima is going to sell those emails, it's more lucrative than ads Imo), they're going to roll it out one day overnight and concequences will never be the same

As loathe as I am to see any kind of account system implemented because jannies will just abuse it, this could actually improve some parts of the board. /pol/ is like 70% bot spam. /vg/ moves so fast because of all the gacha garbage smaller game communities (which are usually forced onto /vg/ by jannies abusing their power) struggle to avoid 404'ing even off peak hours.

It's orders of magnitude easier to moderate a traditional forum like this, because bad actors can be trivially stopped, and user registrations can be prohibited for some lengths of time. This is such a fundamentally different model. On the other hand, the lurking here is worse because of the greater barrier to participation.

Still, they claim to want to save 4chan, and all it requires is killing 4chan.

They dont want 4chan to be an anonymous website with varied topics and disscusion but rather their own personal stomping ground where only things that they like are allowed (almost always tranny shit) and everything they hate are banned on the spot i.e Chuds, making fun of them, not being a pedophile,not liking the fact that 4chan has turned into a pseudo-porn site (just look at the ads) etc etc.

Don't let idiot SLF's be the ones managing your site, especially your imageboard.

I'm never going back to that site. Not only is anonymous dead after tgey 41% themselves now I'll have to put in an email to use a site that supposed to be anonymous? Image boards are fucking dead and I'm tired of saying that they're not.

If I have to use emails in /pol/ I'd rather post and get replies on political sperging here. There would be no difference aside from the pink triangle.

Anyone who thinks it'll be limited to /biz/ is fooling themselves. This will be rolled out to the major "problem boards" like /pol/ and /tv/, and then eventually site-wide.

This is one of the most blatant datamining gayop ever. If it was really about stopping spam they'd just ban the spammers. 4chan already blocks basically every VPN + Tor for posting. Just enforce the fucking rules that already exist and, on the busier boards/boards more prone to incessant spamming put board-wide IDs, and if there's a spammer then just rangeban them. In /biz/ most of the catalog-flooders are Indians so just rangeban the whole country from posting on the board. If they were really serious about stopping spammers they wouldn't have removed IP post-counters and they wouldn't have let it all go on for so long. But it's not about that. It's pure, open, in-your-face datamining. The fact that there are people still posting in /biz/ - which means they either gave gookmoot their cash or they gave up their email - means that the entire userbase is so far gone.

Anyone who is SURPRISED by this, or otherwise thinking "wow, this is insane. how could they do this?" should remember that Hiroyuki was couped/removed/"left" 2channel specifically because of shit like this. He was selling user data and actually had user data leaked/stolen in a data breach. Screencap this because the odds of these emails being "removed from the server" is so small that it's been scientifically fact-checked to be the smallest observable thing in the Universe. Anyone who puts their email up into this, or buys the 4chan pass to get around this, is just asking for Hiroyuki to sell your data or be so negligent in his web-security that it ends up getting leaked in a data breach.

I had posted on /biz/ before I got hit with the email verification about the fact that the jannies are the ones who are allowing the spam to continue and that an email verification doesn't matter because the spammers will just create throwaways and continue as they do, and I got a three-day ban for "Complaining about 4chan staff."
