I see no screenshots of actual server terminals, hinting that it was probably some sort of credential leak or a web-level vulnerability. I don't think the soyfaggots would be capable of anything more complex than an exploit of a known simple vulnerability. Too much attack surface, fucking 4chan got lazy over the years, I guess.

They posted a screenshot of a shell. I think whoever broke in does have shell access.

I stopped going to /b/ by mid 2008. The summer of 2007 surge was extremely detrimental to the quality of /b/ and its humor, which led to many of its denizens moving to /v/ as their main board. It got so bad that people pleaded with moot to plaster gore in the background just to push away tourists since the traffic tripled. It just wasn't the same after.

There is DOZENS of -chans already but there is definitely a good opportunity to come in swooping to market yourself as the "4chan replacement", it could work. But again nobody in their sane judgement should really admin for a -chan.
