Sites like Google pay cold cash for hunting down bugs and security exploits like what was probably used to hack 4chan in order to prevent something like this happening.

Just tried to post on /qa/ as a "why not" thing and I got the April Fools error instead of the usual one. I'm hoping that some idiot will just click a button to unlock every board in a few hours and not realize that /qa/ is supposed to be locked. Or maybe the code is shit and it's already been unlocked but some sort of override will be engaged/like an error state. Not because /qa/ was good, but the chaos would be amazing.

It's already well known (prior to getting haxed) that with the new email verification they were lying through their teeth when it came to the emails not being stored
But from what I've seen over the years on 4chan, people get permabanned for "ban evasion" with no explanation. This happens on a couple boards, /v/ and adjacent, /r9k/, /lgbt/ etc.
I used to know a tripfag (if you don't know what this is, basically a drooling loser) who got banned for ban evasion in around 2023, despite never having done so and never breaking any rules. Story goes that there was a particular mod who had it out for him, and over the years he's repeatedly been getting banned for no reason. He went to IRC and everything to get things cleared up, got unbanned, only to get banned again a day later.
So what irks me is, they're able to identify the user not just by IP (or email nowadays), since the tripfag (drooling loser) I knew moved places. So the mod would frequent the thread he also frequented, was able to identify who the user was (probably image hash, post style, etc) and ban his ass.

Honestly quite a sad thing that you have to spend all your day watching a thread for this One Evil User In My Compooter I DONT LIKE!!@#!@ just to ban them, but also pretty creepy behavior. Source: trust me bro

Strange timing. I heard .gay just got booted by cloudflare, though the thread I found talking about it was deleted before much information was shared beyond the alleged email from cloudflare, and I'm not going to that nonce shithole to find any further explanation myself.

Not happening until at the bare minimum they've upgraded the OS, confirmed the site still functions and nothing broke, fully assess the damage, fully assess how exactly it was breached, and implement at least some band-aid fix such that they're confident it won't just immediately happen again. Consider the speed at which that would happen, and how few (and inactive) the people are that would be responsible for something this high-level and how hands-off and complacent those people are.

Maybe sometime this week, but definitely not a case of "just reboot and flip the switch back on, baddabing baddaboom <24hr downtime"
